Okay, I have a E- Machines T5048 and it has 2 slots for ram slot #0 and slot #1. I have 1 GB ram installed in slot 0 and the computer is too slow so I ordefred the correrct ram 1 GB ram stick and plugged it in slot # 1. I tried to reboot but it did not work. I tried the memory by it self in both slots 0 and 1 and both worked in slot o, but nothing worked in slot 1. Could slot one be turned off? Doing a serch on the internet, I was told to check my BIOS. IT is up to date. So, how do I confirm that the slot is bad or maybe just turned off.

OKay, I think I sent this to you Already but here it goes again. I have two slots where memory can be put in on the motherboard, slot #0 and slot #1. I purchased one additional stick of memory to help make my computer run faster and plugged it in slot 1 and the computer didn't boot up. So, I took out both sticks and tried them both individually in slots 0 and 1, and both worked in slot 0, but neither worked in slot 1.

Could slot 1 turned off some how?

Both run at 400 Mhz and system bus speed is 533 MHz

    Motherboard is as follows:

    product: D101GGC

    VER: AAD54032-300

    SER # : B7GC61600812

I had a thought, could there be a wire or plug that is not connected that would cause this problem. I had some hard drive issues about 1 month ago and disconnecting aand connecting it. The hard drive has the clip hooked on the CS position, should it be on master?

OK, I do not hear any beeping when I plug a ram stick in slot #1. When I startup, the fans go at full speed but I get nothing on the monitor. Lookimg at the tower, I have a blinking light right where I connect mt internet card and also on the front panel under the on/off pushbutton. There are two lights about 1/8" diameter about 2" below the on/off. THis isd where the blinking light is going on aT THE FRONT PANEL.

Processor FSB is 533MHz, right? Ram memory typically operates at half the Processor's FSB. If you had an 800MHz FSB, you could use PC3200. 533MHz? Better use PC2700.

System bus speed is 533MHz? You should be using DDR Sdram at 333MHz. Read the Technical Product Specification for the Intel D101GGC motherboard, (Page 15)http://downloadmirror.intel.com/15113/en... (You may have gotten away with using one 400MHz stick, as it was clocked down to 333MHz. Won't do it for two 400MHz sticks)

Is the bus speed same for both of the RAM modules? Boot using both of the modules one after the other. Note the bus speed and then let me know. Also let me know the make and model of your motherboard.

What does memory test say when only the second RAM is installed?

  • Anonymous Jan 28, 2010

I mean when a RAM is installed into the second slot only?

  • Anonymous Jan 28, 2010

Cable select affects only the Harddrive. The motherboard automatically determines whether it should be set to master or slave.

I have been reading through your Motherboard's manual to see if indicates anything about turning on the slot.
    http://downloadmirror.intel.com/15113/en...
Checkout page 69 for error messages and let me know if you notice any of the BEEP error messages and let me know your observations

How To Remove Front Panel For t5048 Emachines Tower

The eMachines T5048 Desktop PC, uses the NexGen 2 computer case.
(Also uses an Intel D102GGC2 motherboard)

1) http://www.hypermicro.com/mmhypermicrocom/images/CSEC004.JPG

The front panel is the Front Bezel.
It is removed by grasping the right side of it, and pulling out, G-E-N-T-L-Y

There Power On switch wires, Power On LED wires, USB front panel wires, Card Reader wires, etc., are still attached.

http://downloads.emachines.com/userguides/DesktopPC_UserGuide_en.pdf

(Page 47 - Removing the Front Bezel )

{ Note*
Usually there are plastic tabs formed out of the Front Panel, and they snap into slots in the metal computer case frame.

Usually 3 per side. They are flat, and have a hooked end.
They are pressed to the outside, or inside of the case, to release the hooked end away from the side of the slot.

LOOK at the tab. Look at the hooked end. SEE which direction THAT flat tab should be eased over to, in order to bring the hooked end away from the side of the slotted hole.

When the hooked end is in the middle of the slotted hole, the flat tab can then be eased OUT of the slotted hole.

DO NOT assume all tabs go in the same direction }

[ The area of contact pins on the motherboard, that the wires from the Front Panel go to, (Except for the USB and Card Reader), is the Front Panel header.

This link shows you the Front Panel header pinout,

How to put the recovery partition back on the emachines t5048

As far as i know the only way is to run the restore disk from emachine that is for your model computer. (it usually wipes the computers hard disk in the process.)

the link below will take you to their support site for drivers.

on that site look for eMachines Recovery Media Purchase Program and you can see about ordering the recovery disk that you need.

My sound card is not installed on my computer because i did the recovery. where can i download one? it's a eMachines windows XP T Series T5048

Here's a link to the Emachine support page for your model. Scroll down to audio section and you should be able to download your sound drivers. If the sound still doesn't work after doing this download the chipset drivers and then try downloading the audio drivers again. Sometimes you need the chipset drivers first before the audio drivers will work. http://www.emachines.com/support/product_support.html?cat=Desktops&subcat=T%20Series&model=T5048
