As far as i know the only way is to run the restore disk from emachine that is for your model computer. (it usually wipes the computers hard disk in the process.)

the link below will take you to their support site for drivers.

on that site look for eMachines Recovery Media Purchase Program and you can see about ordering the recovery disk that you need.

I have a new computer Emachines can not get in because of passwoord need to change

Get the password from the person that put it in? You say New, is it New to you? Not one you bought , and setup out of the box? Is it a Login Password or a BIOS Password? If it's a Login Password, do a Factory Recovery, if you have a Recovery Partition. Use this procedure: https://support.gateway.com/emachines/software/MICROSOF/vista/7515910/7515910su4.shtml

How do i reset my emachine t5048 to factory setting without the windows boot disc?

Some computers will have a recovery partition you can recover from it will prompt you as the computer is booting. Emachines are very low end computers and don't typically have a recovery partition. If you didn't create the recovery disc you will need to order it from Gateway's website as they own emachine. You can order recovery media from https://secure.tx.acer.com/RCDB/Main.aspx?brand=emachines

Added 2 1GB memory to a T5048. Will not boot. do I need to upgrade the BIOS? Also want to disable on-board graphics and add a pci graphic card.

There are two variants of the T5048 One uses DDR PC3200 ram the other uses DDR2 PC5300
Should be able to look at the old ram and it should say on it what it is. If it doesn't, take out the new, put in the old ram and go here http://www.crucial.com/store/drammemory.aspx Run the "Scan My Computer"
Some computers will have a setting in BIOS to disable on board video although eMachine are very low end and probably don't offer that. Shouldn't need to just install your video card and plug your monitor into it. It should work just fine without disabling on board.

My sound card is not installed on my computer because i did the recovery. where can i download one? it's a eMachines windows XP T Series T5048

Here's a link to the Emachine support page for your model. Scroll down to audio section and you should be able to download your sound drivers. If the sound still doesn't work after doing this download the chipset drivers and then try downloading the audio drivers again. Sometimes you need the chipset drivers first before the audio drivers will work. http://www.emachines.com/support/product_support.html?cat=Desktops&subcat=T%20Series&model=T5048

Can't access emachines recovery partition

I'm not sure if this helps you but have you tried using a restore point to restore to a previous state ?
This can solve a lot of problems and doesn't lose documents.

Restore emachine

Your machine has two ways of repair: SYSTEM RESTORE and SYSTEM RECOVERY. System restore is a Windows utility that rolls the machine back to a point where the machine worked before the problem. System recovery is an eMachines tool that puts the machine back the way it was when you first got it. Restore wont delete your data, recovery will and can. If the problem is catastrophic, and youve backed up your data off of the machine, use the recovery option. Your recovery partition (or a recovery disk) is needed to do this, and it involves pressing a key while the computer boots up. Check your documentation for your model of machine.
