I can't get my DVD to play movies in my latitude d610 computer

You may need to install WinDVD , Interactual Video player, or some similar video player software. The drive will read data CD's and DVD's with Windows , but it needs video codecs (supplied with the video player software) to play DVD movies and media.

Dell Latitude D610 dvd player won't work

Try a CD ROM lens cleaner. If it fails then I suggest you buy a new one. It is easy to change it: there is a release switch at the bottom with a screw. Open it and remove the old one. Slide the new one into its place.

The sound to cd/dvd movies doesn't work

Are you playing a video from the Internet or something you put in your CD/DVD drive?

Go to "My Computer" - right click and go to "Properties". See if anything has a yellow exclamation point. If this is by your sound card it means there is a problem with the driver.

The first thing I would recommend if you do not have any yellow signs there is to go to your sound card in the list. Right click and delete it. Restart your computer. When your laptop restarts the "Found New Hardware" wizard should appear and will automatically install and update your audio drivers. You might need to have your original Windows CD.

Give me more information and I should be able to help you if the above doesn't work.

My dell d610 laptop cd/dvd drive not working

the drive has one lens, that works for both cd's and dvd's. when it reads a dvd it uses a higher light frequency, however when reading a cd it will use a lower light frequency. the lens is most likely dirty, which is why the high frequency light aka dvd is working but not the low frequency light aka cd. a specialized lens cleaning cd may be needed. or if you want to do it manually open the drive exposing the lens, then get a q-tip and some rubbing alchohol. dip the q-tip in the rubbing alchohol and rub the lens gently in a circlular motion. then turn the q-tip over to the dry side and do the same to dry it. thank you for using fixya!

I must tell you that this is not an issue with the drivers or the web browser or the computer. This could be possible that volume button on the video while on web browser is mute or lowered....

Please check.....

However you can try to watch the same video online on other computer, just to isolate the issue....
