Is there a tip for the car adaptor that goes over the fuse?

Fused adapter pribly worn out..try cleanin w electric solvent or rplace

four things to consider while purchasing a replacement
1.voltage--we know its 12 volts DC
2.wattage-- your monitor uses 80 watts - this will take a ac adaptor with about 1 ampre
3. polarity of the adaptor- the inside tip of the adaptor cord needs to be the same polarity (posative or negative) as the plug it's going into. there should be a little insignia near where you plug the adaptor into the monitor with a partial circle and a line going to the middle of the circle, each having a plus or negative sign. the line that goes to the center is the inner cnnection (refered to as TIP)
4. size of the tip - dont accept any plugs that fit loosely as they will cause problems down the road.
If you have the old adaptor, you can carry it down to radio shack and they should be able to match it up for you. If not , print these specs and carry them in with you when you go----

fuse number 24 is a 30 amp fuse goes to pcm relay and fuse number 30 the 30 amp fuse to ignition to pcm power diode.if check light is working your pcm has power but you could have short in the dlc connector terminal where you scanner adapter goes.your scanner suppose power up from the dlc terminal for obd 2 system the obd 1 you connect to cigarette light or use battery hook up cables that come with scanner make sure you are using correct adapter.

yes some taptop use adaptor and don't use adaptor.

Check the fuse in the car charger by unscrewing the tip - the red light should be on whenever it is supplied with power. Otherwise check your vehicle fuse to the 12 volt outlet (or try another device in the outlet).

You might be able to use the parts from an old cell phone adaptor. Have you tried that?
If not don't mess with any off brand adaptor. Get another one from Garmin at their website Garmin .com

its not your ac adaptor its the connector in the laptop it eather has to be fixed or replaced
