    Thank you for your awnser!

I changed the batteries and measured their voltage:
The old set had 1.4 V the new ones have 1.55

But the problem is still there. I uploaded a video of me trying to turn my calculator on.:

I suspect that the batteries are depleted. I suggest you insert a different set of batteries to see if problem disappears.
Be aware that after you change the batteries the display may become too light or too dark and you will have to adjust it.

Here is how to adjust screen display contrast.

  1. Press the [2nd] key and release it.
  2. Press and HOLD the UpArrow to darken screen or DownArrow to lighten screen.
If that does not solve your problem, post a comment to this thread and we will take it from there. Say what you have done and how calculator reacted.

If you are running a non-native program (3rd-party) you should terminate it and reset the RAM.

    To reset the RAM

Press [2nd][MEM][7:Reset][1:All Ram][ Reset] [ENTER]. Claculator show Ram Cleared. Press [CLEAR] to erase Message.

If that does not work, you should consider reinstalling the OS.
From education.ti.com download TI Connect 1.6 and install it on the computer.

Run TI Connect. Connect the calculator to your computer and click the update button. Select Update the OS. Alternatively you can install the OS of a similar calculator.

Here is a more exhaustive series of diagnostics. It is a copy of an earlier post I made in answer to a question. I will not remove parts that you already tried. Just ignore the steps you already tried.

I suspect the batteries are depleted. Change the main batteries.
If that does not solve the problem, apply the following procedure.

A Try this before thinking of repairs.

        Push the ON button.

Even if you see nothing, press the [2nd] key and release it.

Press and HOLD the UpArrow key until the screen darkens.

You may have to keep pressing UpArrow for a little while before you see anything.
B If that does not work

Remove one of the AAA batteries.

Press and hold the [CLEAR] key.

While holding [CLEAR], reinsert the AAA battery and then

        turn the calculator on.

The calculator should display the message "RAM Cleared".

Release the [CLEAR] key and then press it one more time to remove the message "RAM Cleared".
    C. Third option

Remove batteries including the backup battery for 5minutes.

After the 5 minute period, reinsert all of the batteries and

        turn the calculator on.

        Adjust the contrast if necessary.
    D. Last option

The last option requires the reinstallation of the system. So
to use it you must download the TIConnect 1.6 software from
education.ti.com. You must have the TI USB SilverLink or the TI Black serial cable ready. You must be connected to the Internet.

Remove one of the AAA batteries.

Press and hold the [DEL] key.

While holding [DEL], reinsert the AAA battery and then

        turn the calculator on.

The calculator should display "Waiting...Please install calculator software now".

Connect the TI Connectivity cable between the computer and the calculator.

Click on Start >> Programs >> TI Tools >> TI Connect >> TI OS Downloader.

Follow the on-screen directions to reinstall the calculator's OS.
If the message "Error! Press any key to turn unit off. Then turn unit back on."
appears on the graphing calculator, quickly, remove one battery from the
calculator and reinstall it while the transfer is taking place.

If all else fails you can contact Texas Instruments at [email protected]

I deleted the information for my window for my ti 84 plus silver edition help

First exit out of any applications and make sure you are at the home screen. You can do this often by pressing "2nd" then "Mode" to quit or by pressing "Clear." Then, press the blue button titled "2nd" and then hit enter. The most recent thing you have entered in the calculator will appear on the screen. Doing this again will give you the second most recent, then the third and etc. Good luck!

How do a take a division problem and square root it on a TI-84 Plus Silver Edition for example 87.34/5 then square root the answer. I can do the math, but how do I take the dvision answer and square...

Two ways:

2ND [square-root] ( 8 7 . 3 4 / 5 ) ENTER

8 7 . 3 4 / 5 ENTER then 2ND [square-root] 2ND ANS ENTER

The first sequence takes the square root of 87.34/5, the second sequence calculates 87.34/5 then takes the square root of the result.
