Bose 38 with a Scientific Atlanta 8300 HD DVR and Epson Projector

I have the bose hooked up to the projector with an hdmi cable and can view dvds perfectly with great sound.  I have the cable DVR going to the Bose VS2 as the cab/sat input and just using the  hdmi input, it does not work (no audio)  I add the digital audio to the back of the bose and i get sound but component does not work at all.  I cannot get 1080i picutres but i can get 720p and down through bose.  when i plug hdmi from cable direcly to projector, it works perfectly but obviously no sound?  i changed cables, played with programing, changed cable boxes.  Any suggestions would be great.

The Bose VS2 does not pass the HDMI audio. Must connect analog or digital audio direct to the corresponding audio input on the media center. Also, verify you have loaded laster Console Software revision provided by Bose.

Top and bottom of the screen are cut off

That set has an aspect ratio of 4:3. The problem is that what you are sending to it is 16:9 So you are sending an hd signal to a non HD television. The tuner is NTSC which is not HD. Theres not much that you can do about this.

It has got to be the box. I would try to contact Scientific Atlanta if any way possible. The TV doesn't choose what inputs it shows CC.In other words, it would show it on all Inputs if it was the TV. Good luck and Thanks

I would like to hook up my components without having to turn on the receiver to watch tv from DVR or Cable if possible. I have Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8300 HD Cable DVR w/HDMI out, Samsung TV w/HDMI ,...

You should not lose any picture quality from the DVD player. I am currently having the similar setup with PS3 as the Blu-ray DVD player with HDMI and a Samsung DVD as regular player with component cable to a Samsung LCD TV. Remember the quality on Blu-ray is better than normal DVD so don't expect more than what it is.

Connect lifestyle 48 to plasma and dvr

You need to buy a Bose VS 2, video enhancer. Your cable/sattelite, vcr and aux connect to the VS 2 and the VS2 connects one HDMI cable to the TV. The VS2 then upconverts DVDs played on the lifestyle through the VS2/HDMI.

No video from RX-V863

This reciever might not upconvert component or composite to hdmi, which means if you have anything but hdmi hooked up you will not see it. Check your manual for what all the reciver will ouput.

What button on Bose remote will erase material on cable box DVR?

Try 'Enter' if you haven't already. A yes/no question on a cable box is usually a toggle, so select yes and press Enter. If that doesn't work, try a different code from the system menu. (Press 'System' and go to 'remote control.')
