Since no dryer I am aware of uses any liquid, I suggest you may be putting wet clothes into the dryer.
This can happen if the washer does not spin the clothes nearly dry. Many dryers have small holes in the dryer drum to let excess water flow out, I would guess that may be the case with yours.
Are your clothes nearly dry when they come out of the washer?
If not, perhaps the washer has a loose belt or has a problem with the "dry" cycle.

If you click the timer forward can you get the spin to come on? If so your timer is faulty. Is it only on the spin cycle that washer doesnt work?Is there possibly a humm from the machine at spin? (assuming you have clothes inside) If there is a hum, you very possibly have a faulty motor capacitor.

From what I could find online at the Hotpoint UK website (this is probably very similar to the US site) it is a coldfill machine. This product brochure has a similar machine listed on page 25 (13 of 19). Hope this is helpful to you

The sympoms are typical of a couple of reasons.

1. Blocked condenser.
2. faulty cold inlet valve, not letting water in to condense steam back to water.

When it is on the drying cycle, see if you can see water pumping out of the drain at. a slow rate.
If you can see no water at all coming from outlet hose, then chances are it is a faulty valve, and you will have replace same.

my Hotpoint dry will not dry my clothes. It will run for hours and the clothes still haven't dry just felt hot.

Filter blocked, disconnect hose from under sink connection and drain into bucket. Hotpoint does not want you to change filter, contact Service Engineer.
