Well the answer would be yes but that would cost you some money, what happens is that the carrier rovides you the cell phone on a discounted price and lock it to the carrier so that you cannot use another carrier but you can pay the difference amount of discount like
if the set is worth 200$ and the carrier gave it for 50$ you got to pay 150$ to unlock the phone.

Cricket phones do not work on the Verizon network, even when unlocked. Chances are, it the same the other way as well.

Depending on the carrier you want to go with? If the phone doesnt have a serial # tied to verizon you can change to US Cellular or Cricket or Alltell. Well Alltell is verizon now but you get the idea. The only part that might be a little tough is if you want the phones software to look like Cricket etc. Doable but kind of hard of you have never tried it

Well, as is the case with most glitchy phones, this is definetly the firmware. Your phone needs to by flashed by a verizon service center. Dont do it anywhere else, this phone is CDMA and needs the actual Verizon firmware because of the PRL (prefered roaming list).
