I have a panafax uf885, 880 fax machine. If possible I would like to be able to set the baud rate to a lower rate to enable me to fax on voip without any problems. Is there a way on this machine internally or by setting to chage the default baud rate.
IF we could limit the FAX speed to 7200 baud, it will work. That has been tried and proven true by many MagicJack users, The question here, is:
How do we set the speed limit on the Panasonis UF-885/895 FAX machine? It is not in the user's manual.
There must be a hidden "service menu" or something similar, but I haven't found it yet.
That won't make any difference. ALL fax machines are ANALOG and won't work on a DIGITAL phone lines reliably

That is incorrect. Voice over ip phone services are providing an analog regular voice line at your modem which is how you plug a regular phone in and use it. A fax works the same way on the line, as it does on any regular phone line. If you new what you were talking about, then you would realize that even phone lines through the local phone company are voip when they leave the area. (long distance etc). The problems is, that the personal voip services have a lower density of data and therefore do not give you a audio signal that is as clear or as defined enough for higher baud rates for the fax. When the fax tries to send more data quickly, there are too many errors and glitches in the information. The phone companys are at higher rates. Similar to comparing the bandwidth or data rate of cd versus mp3. I currently use a home fax which works fine, but if I try to send on my commercial fax, it does not work sometimes. The occasions when it does or does not, depends on whether the recipient has a commercial fax and it demands the higher rate (up to 30,000 or so), or they have a personal fax, which only goes to 9600 baud which is the limit for vonage. I have been able to send to my mother with the commercial fax, but not to a dealership. You should be more careful about in fact knowing what you are talking about, before you give an answer. What you said, showed a complete ignorance towards how voip and phone lines work.
Again, you did not even read what I wrote or paid attention.
It is not an issue of reliability with the voip. Even a regular phone line can have noise and glitches which can affect a fax. Always could have in the past.
The issue has to do with baud rates, which you obviously know nothing about or do not understand, which is why you should not be discussing this topic until you learn.
MY PERSONAL FAX, AND OTHERS LIKE IT, WILL WORK FINE. IT IS THE COMMERCIAL FAX, WHICH AT TIMES, IS USING A HIGHER BAUD RATE. IT IS THOSE TIMES AT THE HIGHER BAUD RATE, WHEN THE FAX WILL NOT WORK. NOT BECAUSE THE VOIP IS UNRELIABLE, IT JUST DOES NOT HANDLE HIGHER DATA RATES.
That is a factual thing, not related to reliability. When you fax at 9600 you are ok, when you go over, you are not ok.
AGAIN, MY PERSONAL FAX, WILL ALWAY WORK OK. AS MUCH SO AS ANY REGULAR PHONE LINE WILL.
AGAIN, THE REGULAR PHONE LINES ARE VOIP ANYWAY THROUGH THE PHONE COMPANY, AND THEY HAVE BEEN SINCE THE 1970S. DUH!
I made the statement that you did not read anything FOR ONE SIMPLE REASON.
TRY READING MY ORIGINAL QUESTION.
MY QUESTIONS IS HOW TO CHANGE THE BAUD RATE ON MY FAX.
NOT WHY I HAD THE PROBLEM. I KNEW WHY, WHICH IS WHY I WANTED TO CHANGE THE BAUD RATE IN THE FIRST PLACE.
WHAT KIND OF HELP PERSON ARE YOU. YOU DO NOT EVEN ANSWER THE QUESTION OR ATTEMPT TO ANSWER THE QUESTION THAT WAS ASKED IN THE FIRST PLACE.
