Picture has a weak screen/picture - Televison & Video

Take of the back and there is buttons inside, try turning them.

Possible failure of the VERTICAL SECTION of the deflection circuit. It is possible that the areas related to the vertical circuit is checked , check for weak capacitors near the output vertical drive. Also a faulty vertical coil- deflection coil- can result in half picture.
A vertical signal test can confirm.

the picture tube is already weak. if you could only have a reduvinator it will be good again, it is a instrument used to reduvinate the picture tube.

You did not leave a brand or model number. The answer in general is, one of two problems. If this TV is an LCD, you may have an inverter board that is bad, or a power supply to the inverter is weak and will not light the screen. If you have a plasma TV, you are experiencing a weak power supply voltage to the screen. A plasma TV has a picture tube filled with gas that needs igniting to illuminate the screen. I would chance to say there are bad capacitors that are weak or bad. This means the voltage is to low to power the screens in either TV. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

Picture tube is weak. You can add a booster the Picture tube. I would replace the set.

the tuner is getting a weak signal and that is why the vertical sync signal is weak and the picture is rolling .check the cable on the back

It is a signal issue.

Mine did the same thing once. I think all I did was hit the setup on the remote, and let it run back through all the channels and then it worked just fine.

If the sound goes off too then there are bad solder connections, if it just the picture then the picture tube is getting weak, some times a picture tube rejuvinator can bring some life back for a while.
