Go to control panel see if you accidentally turned it off or changed something I've have done that several times also look in device manager I've had drivers magically uninstall on my Dell touch screen
see if you have the proper drivers installed, and the tochpad application is running. There should be a logo in the lower right corner, next to the clock. Here's a list of drivers for your laptop http://komku.blogspot.com/2009/05/acer-aspire-4736-xp-vista-drivers.html See if you have an ALPS or Synapsis touchpad and insta the appropriate drivers from the list.
Hi there don't worry. Its disable that's why not working. Please press FN+F7 and try. The symbol on your keyboard is below. Just press FN+ below mention symbol. Thanks.
Go to Control Panel-->mouse-->the last tab to the right it should say something about touchpad then go to option or properties and there you will see different options about the touchpad.
Many times what happens is during Microsoft updates this audio card PC driver gets lost. You may need to go to Dell's Web site to locate your specific Model's audio card driver and then reload it. Worth a try! Blessings, A/V Media Guy
Navigate to Device Manager
Start >> right click computer >> Device manager
I believe for 7
If the device does not is missing completely, your touch pad needs to be replaced
If it does show up completely uninstall the driver, reboot and reinstall
Lets see if the Lenovo computers are alike, since I have a T60 version...
Lets start by going to the:
-> START button click on the Control Panel
-> click on MOUSE
-> click on ULTRANAV tab
-> there will be a check mark to Enable the Touch Pad
Check off the Touch Pad and click on APPLY to save and OK to back out.
Voila, your Touch pad should be working then.
Good Luck.
If the laptop is less than a year old then it maybe able to be repaired under warranty.
The touchpad contains electronic components just like a mouse, and a fault could develope like any electronic device.
First thing, go into the BIOS configuration and set the BIOS configuration back to the default settings, then save, exit and reboot the laptop.
If this doesn't fix the problem then connect and use an USB mouse instead of the touchpad.
It is likey the connection for the touchpad has come loose. As this connector is under the keyboard it would make sense that putting pressure on the keyboard causes it to work. If you are comfortable with removing a few screws, refer to the service manual on Dell's website on how to remove the keyboard. You will then see a ribbon cable connected to a plastic mechanism that secures the cable to the connection on the motherboard. Simply slide the top of the plastic mechanism forward or back to release tension on the ribbon cable, make sure the cable is straight and all the way forward, then slide the mechanism back into place and you should be okay. If you are not comfortable with removing anything, any computer repair shop should be able to do this for you relatively quickly.
