Check the touchpad to be on in BIOS if this option is available. If on an attempt to reinstall your operating system you have no life sign from your touchpad, it means your palmrest/touchpad is defective or its cable connection on the board was affected (e.g. cable get out after you have dropped your laptop). Have it replaced by a professional.

My acer aspire 5332 touch pad is not working

SOLUTION 1
Your laptop touchpad may have been accidentally disabled. You need to re-enable your touchpad to be able to use it.
To re-enable your touchpad:
On your laptop keyboard, press the Fn key and the F6 or F7 key (the function key with a touchpad icon on it) at the same time.
Then check to see if you're able to use your touchpad.

SOLUTION 2 -
UPDATE touchpad Driver

If you have tried the methods above and the issue remains, you should ask someone to check and repair your laptop touchpad. If your laptop is still under warranty, call your laptop vendor and ask them for advice. Or you should bring your laptop to a trustworthy repair store.

How to Fix Touchpad on a Laptop

<p><span>The touchpad of your laptop is a most important and frequently used input device. If your touchpad stops functioning, it may be difficult for you to use your laptop. Touchpad normally faces following issues. <br /><br /><b>Laptop Problems and Their Solutions</b><br /><br /><b>Problems with the driver</b><br /><br />Computer hardware communicates with your computer through real time software called driver. Drivers control computer hardware. It is possible that virus or human activity may damage the driver. You can check your driver's status through computer's device manager. You'll see a yellow color indication under "Mouse and other pointing devices" heading. You can download new driver form your laptop's manufacturer website. <br /><br /><b>Problems with connection</b><br /><br />Touchpad's connection with motherboard is delicate. It can be broken due to heating and other inner problems. So, if there is no problem with the driver, then the connection of the touchpad to the motherboard may have broken. <br /><br /><b>Misuse</b><br /><br />Touchpad of the laptop is the most delicate input device. Some people tap on it too hard or use a shrill tool as an alternative of a finger. This can damage the pad. <br /><br /><b>Fn Keys</b><br /><br />Touchpad driver is slightly different from the other devices that need drivers to function properly. It came with an operating system that you don't need to re-install it. Laptop keyboard comes with many functions than the common keyboard. It has Fn keys which are called function keys. Sometimes, your laptop's touchpad stops working because you accidentally hit some one of the Fn keys. You can follow these instructions to make your laptop touchpad working again. <br /><br />1- Search for Fn key on your laptop keyboard. It is commonly located next to the Ctrl key. <br />2- Now search for F1 to F12 keys on the laptop keyboard. These keys control sound, brightness of the screen, wifi etc. They are located on top of the keyboard. Look for the key which has icon on it that looks similar to the touchpad. <br />3- Let's take an example of Toshiba laptop. It uses F10 key to enable or disable touch-pad. Hold down Fn key along with F10 key to enable the laptop touch-pad. <br /><br /><b>Cleaning the laptop touch-pad</b><br /><br />It is a good practice to clean your laptop touchpad. To clean it, take a cloth dampened with sprit. Wipe your touchpad off with that cloth. <br />Laptop touchpad work best in moderate temperature and gasping environment. Moisture, excessive heat, can damage it. Try using your laptop with tidy hands. Sweaty and dirty hands can cause problems. <br /><br /></span><span><span> </span></span><br /><span><br /> </span>

Laptop touchpad not working

Dear John,

Although you did not mention your laptop model, Medion laptops use a combination of the 'Fn' key with one of the function keys on the top part of your keyboard to enable/disable the touchpad, that can be F3 or F6 or F8. So, try pressing the 'Fn' key and, while keeping it pressed, press also the F3 key and release them. Check if the touchpad now works. If it does not, try the same operation with 'Fn' plus the F6 keys or 'Fn with the F8 keys.

If none of these combinations works for you, maybe you will need to download and re-install the driver for your touchpad, from the Medion web site. go to www.medion.com site, select your country or region and then look for the drivers page for your laptop model. Select the driver for the touchpad offered there, download and install it in your machine.

Hope this helps!

Touchpad does not work

Locate the function key (F1 to F12) that has the touchpad sign. This is often a rectangle with two smaller rectangles below it representing the touchpad and its two buttons.
Press FN + The touchpad button
If this doesn\'t work, then you need to do the following:

  • Navigate using the arrow keys to "Device Settings" or "Touchpad" or the similar option on your system and press "Enter."

  • Press the "Tab" key until the "Enable" option or a check box next to it highlights and then press "Enter." Press "Tab" again until you are highlighting "OK," and press "Enter." Your touchpad will be re-enabled.

If no go, then update your touchpad driver by going to Computer (right click), Manage > device manager.

Look for the touchpad driver and update. If you want to avoid these kinds of problem in the future, then install radarsync to automate the updating mechanism of your computer. It\'s automatic and you don\'t need to do anything.

    I hope this helps!

    Mousepad not working

    Hello,

Each Touchbad should have basic functionality by default in every Operating system, letting it be used even when no driver is installed. However, try pressing FN and F7 together and see if the touchpad works again. Some people accidently press this FN + F7 key when they mute the sound with the FN + F8 key.

The FN + F7 is there to disable/enable the touchpad as some people use a USB mouse instead of the touchpad.

If you still need the drivers, here are the download links. Please choose desired driver by Operating system and Touchpad brand...

TOUCH PAD ISN'T WORKING, CURSOR WON'T MOVE

your touchpad might have a 'lock' button nearby it, to enable or disable its sensitivity. this is usually helpful while typing, so you can disable it so that the when the touchpad gets touched, the mouse won't make any reaction. You can then enable it to work with the mouse. This button is usually either near the top border or near one of the four borders. Alternately, some laptops have a function key for touchpad enable-diable thing. It is usually Fn + F3. The function key (Fn) is near the Ctrl key. The touchpad key, in the in colour of the Fn key will be somewhere in the Function keys.
