Mail problem I have an acer 3100 with windows vista. Every time I am on an internet site and it says send us an email I get-could not perform because the deault mail client is not properly installed. I have to write down their email and go to my hotmail site and type it in and then send it. It only started happening with Vista. I am tempted to have my old windows installed. This crap gets old.

You simple CANNOT. Windows Mail no longer supports the HTTP servers used by Yahoo! and other web-based e-mail providers. Windows Mail does not permit the use a Web-based (HTTP) e-mail account on a computer that is running Windows Vista.
For an alternative, use Windows Live Mail instead of Windows Mail

loadTOCNode(3, 'resolution'); Windows Live Mail is an e-mail program that you install on your computer. Windows Live Mail stores messages on your computer. This means that you can access, read, and compose e-mail messages even when you are not connected to the Internet.

Windows Live Mail works with popular Web-based e-mail services such as Hotmail, AOL mail, Google mail, and Yahoo! mail. Windows Live Mail is built to automatically configure many popular e-mail services.

check for any settings that are required by the email provider, like if the mails are to be sent under gmail or yahoo they require you to be sending the mail through a secure port like 995 and others

I am on a lap top so how do i get through on a lap top

any time you are on anypage and it has a link to email them OR somebody, internet explorer (IE), will open your default mail program and ask you to fill out the email message BUT, you have not setup THAT email program (in XP it is most likely Outlook express, in Vista it is Windowsmail). SO if it is not set up right with all the info that your (ISP, (insternet service provider), like incoming mail server and the outgoing mail server, and the user name and pasword), the program will have no idea how to send that new email message that you triggered when clicking on the craigs list link). to find out which program is by default is trying to open up, while you are in IE, ( if that is in windows XP), click tools/internet options/prgrams and you will see it in front of email program., if you have VISTA, then click --> tools/internet options/prgrams/set programs/set default programs/then click on Windows mail and set it up as your Default prgram for email sending and receiving. ) but you need to make sure you get all the info from you ISP first, it a matter of fact they might be able to help set it up for you (depends on your ISP of course).
good luck

Scanned attachment to vista windows mail emails

I would scan whatever it is and then save it as a picture or whatever you choose and send it as a normal attached file.

Default yahoo email

If you use Yahoo! Mail for all your email needs, some of the amenities of Windows seem to elude you. A click on an email link in your browser brings up Outlook Express or another desktop email program, not a new message in Yahoo! Mail. Trying to send a file directly from Word, OpenOffice.org or another office application yields the same, unsatisfactory result.

Fortunately, the state of dissatisfaction need not be permanent. It will be overcome by making Yahoo! Mail act as your default email program in Windows, which, if you use Windows 95 or later is an easy thing to do.
Make Yahoo! Mail Your Default Windows Email Program

To set up Yahoo! Mail as your default email client in Windows:

* Download and install Yahoo! Messenger.
* Select Tools | Internet Options... from the menu in Internet Explorer.
* Go to the Programs tab.
* Make sure Yahoo! Mail is selected under E-mail.
* Click OK.

Yahoo! as Default Email: Does Not Work under Windows Vista

Unfortunately, Yahoo! Mail as your default email program may be hard-wired to use Internet Explorer instead of your default browser, and it does not work in Windows Vista.
Make Yahoo! Mail the Default Email Composer in Mozilla Firefox

In Mozilla Firefox, you can turn to the Mailto 2 Webmail script for Greasemonkey to have Yahoo! Mail handle email links (even under Windows Vista).

Outlook (all releases) comes with Microsoft Office.

Windows vista and hotmail

Well thats funny Hotmail is owned by Microsoft and this is Hotmails address http://login.live.com/login.srf?wa=wsignin1.0&rpsnv=10&ct=1187752173&rver=4.5.2130.0&wp=MBI&wreply=http:%2F%2Fmail.live.com%2Fdefault.aspx&id=64855

I would take it up with MIcrosoft if I were you only they can help you if your Vista cannot recognise Hotmail unless your signing in through a client for instance Outlook express or any other client.  Hotmail will not connect to any clients other than the above link.
