SOURCE: Microsoft Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 doesn't work
Hi
If you take the batteries out there is a screw in there. unscrew and open (not easy) with flat knife in the edges wiggling.
attach and touch all the inside wires. I have had the same problem and it is an internal connector problem. Opening and closing aint easy and will take a little patience but it will work.
Good luck

Well in case of opto-mechanical mouse all u hav to do is open d mouse and just clean d rollers(as d ball moves d rollers also move and that decide d X-Y coefficients) which are clogged with sticky dirt n dust.
In case of optical mouse it's d crystal which is most vulnerable to failure,so after detailed tests procedures change d faulty component,u might require professional guidance.
Also cleaning d lens below the LED will help.
Repairs of optical Mouse is not worth it,considering d obsolute nature of electronic circuits, and d rapid fall n d prices, replacing is d only option for an optical mouse

I have something like you've all described with mine occasionally, normally, turning the mouse over and rubbing the laser surround with my finger vigorously is enough to clean off the crud that seems to be causing the problem..
I've never had any software problems or anything with mine..

If you reinstalled the drivers then most like there is a problem with the touch pad its self. If you are still under warranty I would call Dell Tech Support to get the touch pad replaced on the system.
