Windows security alert keeps popping up. antivirus software alert keeps popping up. have mcafee antivirus but it says application cannot be executed. file is infected.

Hi,
Sounds like you have a XP virus. Turn your computer on and go into "safe mode with networking". once connected to the internet go to cnet.com. Go to the download tab for windows. Then download and install "malwarebytes".
Install the program and run it, this should take out the malware. If succesful, go to your computer icon, right click and then select properties. Turn of system restore and restart your computer. This will remove all the nasties. Remember to turn on system restore after this is completed.

Can't get rid of McAfee popup

Start->Setting->Control Panel->Add/Remove Software
and un-install McAfee software
There should be two or three McAfee related software. After the un-install the software, the popup will be gone!

By the way, it is always safer to have an active Anti Virus protection.
