Most computers don't have an e drive. The A is your floppy, b is not used unless you have another floppy, the c is your hard drive, and d is your cd rom. Unless you have 2 cd roms, or 1 and a dvd, you won't have an e drive unless you have a second hard drive, or a usb flash drive in the unit.

Computer just shut down for no reason won`t boot back up

First problem is the data inportant to you on there, if so before and other work is done i suggest have it recovered before work is done, easy way remove hard drive and place it in a docking staion as long as the drive is readable and use another machine to expolore you hard drive to recover data. if a corrupt mbr use icare data reovery as a computer shop or centre will be more than happy to charge big money.

Did a recovery but computers still running slow. I would like to try a reinsall what do I got to do. to preform this. HP Pavilion Media Center a1600n

Running slowly could be a lot of things. It could be you don't have enough physical memory (RAM) in your computer to do what you want. Less than 1 or 2 GB might be seen as slow. If you really want to reinstall Windows, back up all the files you want to save to someplace else, like an external hard drive or thumb drive. You will have to reinstall all your programs (Office, etc) after you reinstall Windows. Take the CD copy of Windows that came with your computer and boot your computer to that. You may have to change the boot order by entering Setup (usually by pressing F2 when it starts). Make sure the CD drive is first in Boot Order. When you boot to the CD follow the instructions for installing Windows in the screens which follow. Delete any existing partitions and install it on a clean partition.
Good luck!

I used to be able to burn dvd+ lightscripe dvds and now it will only take the dvd- how does this happen We own a HP Pavillion a1600N

Sounds like your lightscribe driver is missing, just google for a driver that supports your DVD/RW model. also you could do a system restore to another time when it was working?

HP a1600n desktop will turn on but will not boot. Does not run thru BIOS, keys/mouse check. HDD spins up, CDROM goes thru check then just sits. Monitor doesn't kick in because doesn't get to video check....

you need to open up the case, and remove the CMOS battery ( a silver wafer-style battery about the size of a quarter) and leave it out for about 10 minutes. put the battery back in and close the case back up and DONT mess with ANYTHING ELSE. if the computer STILL wont boot, then your motherboard is bad, and will need to be replaced through the manufacturer of your PC.

At start up the screen is blank except for a no signal message

You might wanna try to buy a video card and hook it into a PCI port, sometimes the Integrated video modules fail but the rest of the motherboard works.
