Kenmore dishwasher 587.15163401 won't fill. I checked the float switch with my multimeter and it's working properly. It's registering zero when I touch the terminals and 1 when I activate the switch. On this particular washer, how do I access the water inlet valve to check it for debris and also to check the solenoids? Also on this particular washer, how do I access the drain valve and solenoid. Can you tell me if this is a single direction motor or reversing motor. As I understand it, only single direction washers have a drain valve, but I don't know what this is?

The problem was the water fill valve. When set to Ohms, the multimeter never would read zero indicating a problem with the water fill valve. I replaced the part and it works now. Be sure to turn your water off under the sink before taking it off to replace it.

Dishwasher won't fill with water

Hi

When the Dishwasher won't fill you'll need to check for the water inlet hose, the water inlet valve and the float switch assembly. When the water fills your dishwasher, a float rises along with it. As the float reaches a certain threshold level, it shuts off the flow of water, thereby preventing a leak. Sometimes the float can get stuck in the wrong position in your dishwasher, and it can prevent your dishwasher from filling. Sometimes it can happen due to float valve and on other occasions due to float switch. Inspect the water hose coming to the dishwasher for any blockages. If the hose is not clogged then check the water inlet valve for any clogs, if the water will not even fill for few seconds then certainly the water inlet valve is bad and should be replaced. You can also use a multimeter to check continuity on inlet valve. If you don't get any value on the multimeter then you'll need to replace the water inlet valve assembly. However, if the valve is fine then the float switch assembly should be replaced. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

My Kenmore Portable Dishwasher model number 665.17769K600 will not fill with water, I have to manually fill with water and it will then work. What could be causing this?

Hi

When the Dishwasher is not filling in, you'll need to check for the water inlet valve, the filter screen and the float switch/assembly. Also check for the float assembly inside the dishwasher. When water is filling your dishwasher, a float rises along with it.
If these are fine then it's due to Water Inlet Valve. Use a multimeter and check for the continuity on inlet valve. If you don't get any value on the multimeter then you'll need to replace the water inlet valve assembly.

Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.
