Panasonic ct-6000v front projection tv convergence issues

I have a panasonic ct-6000v front projection tv, this thing is ancient, there are a lot of controls in the back if you take off the cover that let you focus in the screen and adjust convergence. i am looking for any information on how these should be set and what each does. also the focus is off and i see the focus controls on the board also, one for each color. i think if i can figure out the convergence then i can get this dinosaur running again :)

thank you for the information. unfortunately i can not find just 3 controls for the screen, i do however find the 3 for the focus... this is the pic i have of the control board i am looking for info on.http://tinypic.com/r/334rrpt/3 my brother decided to 'fix' them for me and now the picture is no good. :) the 3 focus that i found are clearly marked red blue and green.... thanks again for the info and i look forward to more.

i have uploaded a picture of the board i need to know more about in order to get this tv working. i truly hope someone have this information out there :) thanks to any and all that can help me with this.http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=334rrpt&...

ok, please provide more information, just saying that i need a color generator does not help when i am specifically asking for information on a board and controls. i appreciate your effort there but if i am paying for this service i would like to have a lot more that a single line answer that is not an answer to the question. thanks any how

if i need a color generator, can someone please tell me how to adjust the board once i have it, thanks!

  • Jonathan Sep 12, 2009

thank you for the information, i am wondering, i can set the screen to give me a cross hair (that is as large as the whole screen) at the top the colors are not converged, the red is off the the right, at the bottom it is off to the left... and on the left and right they are also askew, before my brother started messing with the controls on the inside, on the board that i attached the link to a pic for (http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=334rrpt&... ) this board is seperate from the focus which is on the board under the crts this board in the pic is to the right... thanks

  • Jonathan Sep 12, 2009

also just thought to let you know, the convergence controls on the front of the tv are connected to this board.

  • Jonathan Sep 13, 2009

ok, with the controls on the front for vertical and horizontal converg. i can not get the lines to match up any further than described before. we were able to get them to line up nice but that was before it was messed with on that board in the back. i think he changed some of them and there are a ton. using the mirror is VERY helpful. i will continue to try to get them all to come together.. also when i put the tv in the mode to adjust the lines, the screen is jumpy. i dont know if that will help any...

  • Jonathan Sep 13, 2009

i should have also mentioned that the controls on the front allow me to adjust the red and blue up/down left/right. there is not adjust for green or focus on the front.

  • Jonathan Sep 14, 2009

thank you so much for the clarification... the information you have provided is great, the only switch on the tv puts up a large crosshair looking display to use the front convergence controls. would it be feasible to download an image of a graph paper looking white screen and put that on the tv thru my dvd player? do you think that would create the same effect? also thank you for the tip on not adjusting focus with the tv plugged in... if the image will provide the same effect, once the lines are all lined up and white, can i convcevably cover two lenses at a time to allow just one to project on the screen to set the focus of each lens? thanks again for the clairification and i appologize if i seemed cross in my response to your post about the color generator i admit it was due to my ignorance :)

First put the tv in front of a large mirror as you have to see what you are doing and when to stop or go back. these mammoths use three colors. RGB, red green and blue to make all billions of colors. when any color goes haywire so odes the picture as the color combination is now different. as you have located the focussing controls, you must focus each color to give you a sharp pic. Keep looking in the mirror. One you have focussed all three of them then look for the combined effect. There are two aspects here. One. the distance of each color. for that, like you focus your camera by rotating the focussing ring on the lens. Two. The three colors ahve to be superimposed perfectly. Then only you will get a perfect picture.

Yes use thos controls on the fron of the TV. it does not matter where they are, as long as they are working.

  • Anonymous Sep 13, 2009

Use the front controls. They should be working thst all that is required, not their location and get back to me.

  • Anonymous Sep 13, 2009

Green is the base color. So adjust to concide the red and blue to the green. That should do.

  • Anonymous Sep 14, 2009

It is simple. Cover the other light with something opaque. cover one with thick cloth or some such thing so that it does not interfere with the other light. and converge the other. Once this is done then cover the other one and converge this one. But the green stays. Converge the red and the blue

Sorry. forgot about the crosshair. you cant use a dvd player to do that as even that picture will not be clear. and create more confusion.

You will need a color generator to do this

    when I told you to get a color generator earlier I was assuming that you knew the basics;

in the old days of tv the screens red, blue, green had to be matched to the curveature of the tube, and lenses. to accomplish this a crosshatch pattern had to be generated on the surface of each tube in a projection tv in other words; all the points of each screen had to line up with a series of boxes displayed on the screen one over the other to create a white line i.e. red merged with green merged with blue gave you a white line so that the images would not have bleed over when watching tv

the controls you are looking at are magnets that bend the screens into a spherical shape they are usually refered to as vert tilt, horizontal tilt in sets of three i.e. rtl red top linearity or, bvt blue vertical tilt there should be 16 or, so controls 4 to 8 red 4 to 8 blue 4 to 8 green controls and, some clean up controls such as red screen etc.focus was accomplished by the high voltage flyback transformer you should see a screw marked focus and, bright be carefull and, only adjust these while the tv in not powered plug the tv in and, then uplug as you do the adjustment so you see you must really have a color pattern generator to line up every line on top of every other line to mirror the curvature of the shape oh each crt (picture tube) a tv shop may have an old one or, you may find one on e-bay

good luck and, I hope I've helped-

in your case green should be fixed so that you can converge to it is there a switch that turns on a tic tac toe patern on your tv screen?

  • Jim Goldsmith
    Jim Goldsmith Sep 14, 2009

in a pinch you can use a computer feed or, a DVD crosshair image however; a color patern generator has many more displays: dots, bars, color shift etc.in multiples i.e. one dot to 64 dots these are rock solid too.

you are right in the idea of blocking lenses to set the focus and, sub bright

the patterns you may want to use are called ntsc color bar test patterns these can be found on the internet sorry; I forgot that you could download and, burn the patterns to a CD/DVD

    try this: http://www.download32.com/calman-htpc-pa...

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. It has 6 controls on it, 3 are marked as focus and 3 as screen. You'll need to adjust the screen. If you turn these too high you can damage a tube. So we are doing real small adjustments. Turn the color off on the tv and adjust the red, blue & green controls up till you get a fine picture. And adjust the focus untill you get the clear and crisp picture. The adjustments doesn't depend upon rotating them in any direction but on the clarity of picture.

Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Need to know what convergence chips are in Panasonic PT51HX41E

your model has two STK392-110 CONvergence Cs, you will also most likely need at least a few of the 2.2 ohm 2watt convergence resistors. I am posting a link to the actualrepair kit for your model which contains both Convergence ICs and all 6 of the convergence resistors and they send instructions with pictures that show how to do the repair.

Blue lines appeared near lower half of screen

Hello... This sounds like a convergence issue, but I didn't think they made rear-projection TVs as recently as 2013? Also, your post says you have a 32"? If it's a 32", then ignore the following.

If it is a convergence issue, parts will need to be replaced. There are usually two STK ICs and maybe some resistors that can go bad.

I hope this helps!
