Hoover tempo upright is clogged. I can only vac for a few minutes, then I have to unplug it and turn it over and clean out the under part under the roller. It is totally stuffed with dirt and dust and carpet fibers. I have a new bag in. It is like it is clogged up inbetween the bag and the roller. Also gets clogged when using the hose. It is maybe a year old. How can I take it apart and unclog it?

Disconnect the hose and head and wands. Drop a quarter thru the hose, the handle sometimes clogs. peer thru the wands and inspect the elbow on the head for blockage as well

The vacuum is not picking up at all

if it is not picking things up -- then there is a blockage in the suction hose and /or a clogged filter.
clean and clear the unit and all should be working good as new.

My Hoover runs for a few minutes and shuts off.

It's possible the thermal reset is defective. It shuts the motor off if it gets hot. Remove the bag door and take the bag off, remove both filters and then turn the vacuum on, just leave it sit there with the motor running. This eliminates the bag or filters causing any airflow resistance. If it still shuts off after a few minutes it's likely the thermal reset is bad. Some vacuums have an external thermal reset button which can be replaced if necessary but on your model it is built into the motor and you must replace the motor. If the motor runs fine put the bag and the filter under the bag back in - (make sure the filter is clean and not restricting airflow) put the bag cover on then turn it on again. If it overheats and shuts off then you may have a clog on there somewhere restricting the airflow. If so check the power nozzle area, the hose coming from the power nozzle, the extension hose and wands for clogs or restrictions.

After using my attachments I have a hard time getting suction when using upright again - how do I get the suction on my upright? It's a Hoover blue widepath Tempo~ thank you

It may be clogged underneath the vacuum where the roller is. Take the bottom plate off and look into the intake port. There may be some blocking the port.

Hoover model u5146900 the belt drive is bare metal wears out the belt quickly is there a part that fits over the pin?

The belt drive shaft does not actually wear out the belt unless it has a burr on it, however frequent use does.It should be kept clean and polished with no residual dirt ir burnd rubber.
On a department store brand vac you should expect to change the belt every 3 months, broken or not as it stretches under normal use for best results. Remove and clean the end caps on this unit for longer belt life and use only genuine Hoover belts with matching part #.
For longer wear and tear, next time around consider a vac with a fibre embedded gear belt similar to the fan belt on your car.
A belt of this nature gives 100% performance at all times and therefore keeps yopur carpets much cleaner.

Loose paint is stuck in my Hoover 5753-900. Now it won't turn on

Take the bottom plate off where you would install a new belt. the impeller is clogged up. use a wire to poke out the clogs. you can use a shop vac to **** out the debris. check your belt for wear spots while your at it. you may need a new one . befor removing the belt. make sure you notice in what direction it is installed. If you put it on backwards you brush will turn in the wrong direction, not good. draw a picture if need be. Ok good luck DFD

Hoover Wind Tunnel bagless- issue with turning on

Have you tried to plug the vaccuum in another outlet that is on another breaker? It could be the vaccuum tripped the breaker. Turn the breaker back on. The manual mentions the thermal protector could have been activated. If this happened it resets and your vac should run after 30 minutes. I have a Widepath Tempo and it has tripped the surge protector. If this is the problem try turning some things off that are also on that breaker/outlet, or unplug them when you use the vac.
