I lost my wireless connection, how do I get it back?

I kept losing my internet connection. I tried resetting my router. When that was completed I no longer have wireless connection on my laptop. I have tried adding as a new printer, but did not work. I do not have the CD to install software. Help!

Ok if you used the reset button on the back of your router you will need to configure the router once more.depending on what name router you might want to go to the manufactures website under tech support for help.you can go to the web by plugging your laptop directly to the cable/dsl modem for internet .

Netgear wifi router

1) does it lock up completely or will it work hard lined when wifi fails?
2) do all devices wireless fail or just a single device?
3) do you lose connection to the wireless completely or keep the connection but lose access to the internet? (confusing but very different to me)

in the end you could narrow down the problem but if you have already reset to factory defaults and set back up again and again then it may be time to retire that old router.

I constantly lose connection to the internet wirelessly on my desktop computer. Connection is lost mulitple times per day. Using when this happens an icon on my computer says local access connected only.

Did you update your router lately?

I suggest to update the firmware but also a reset will be fine before the update. Here is a link to update your device, but you need your router hardware version.

If you need more help post back!

Green light on internet and wireless are blinking

If you are still experiencing normal internet connection then this blinking is normal. If you have lost connection to the internet then first thing to try is to unplug your modem and router for a minute and then plug them back in.
From time to time static can build up in the connection and you can lose the connection. Restarting the modem and router will reset that connection.

I lost my password and lost the WGT624 installation CD, how can i get the router to work on a new laptop

If you have lost the password to access the router page then you have to reset the router

Ensure that you have all the details regarding your internet connection before resetting the router

If you reset the router you can run the smart setup wizard and get connected by entering correct information in all the pages of the wizard

If you are looking for the wireless password:
--------------------------------------------------------------
Access your router page ( Open Internet Explorer --> Type 192.168.1.1 and enter it--> Login name(default)-admin, Password(default)-password) --> GO to wireless settings, under Wireless settings you will find the wireless password.

Setup

in the back there should be a small button you need a pen to click. Try to hit that. It will reset all settings of the router. It will be like you jsut took it out of the box. Any settings you made will be lost.

I recently changed my internet connection from DSL to Comcast broadband. I had the router connected previously without a problem, when I attempted to install it with the new service I got to step 8 on the...

Three options here:

The first time you connect using most cable services, you may be required to register your computer to their service, which includes entering a password they give you. That may have interfered with your first attempt by not allowing your router to connect to the internet to obtain a public IP address form the cable modem.

If it's not the cable company's fault, the user manual that came with the router will also have the default user name and password listed there. Try using that in case it has been reset somehow.

If you still cannot get past the username/password prompt, then you can simply log into the router as before, and choosing to reset the router back to factory settings. Then you will be able to set it up again from the beginning.
