SOURCE: Freezing?
Hi This is a common fault, and unfortunately, there is only a slim chance it can be economically repaired. I've seen it caused by an over-heating video processor I.C., but also a weak laser, where basically the laser looses it's place and the video processor "hangs" on the last frame of proper video. The good news about that, is that a dirty lense can cause the same symptom as a week laser due to trying to read through dust, so a cleaning could possibly clear up your problem. Now, it's a long shot, but there is also another scenario we often see. If you have an older tv, without A/V inputs, most people connect their DVD to the A/V inputs on their VCR, and change the source on the VCR to AUX. This works fine on some DVD discs that are not big budget films, so it will play some discs perfectly. As soon as you put in your favourite "Terminator" DVD, what you get is a perfect picture for a while then blue screen, then normal picture etc. This is due to copy protection built into the DVD. If you are indeed connected through a VCR, and your tv only has RF input, then you can buy an RF modulator from your local electronics store, and connect through it instead of the VCR. Good Luck!

SOURCE: WRONG DISC ERROR WHEN PLAYING A DVD
HI,. this is a lens assembly fault. the lens is malfunctioning or, it may have stopped reading. this wrong disc code is just a universal warning that is concerning a fault if the main board doesn't receive any data(audio, video) when the disc is inserted.
Due to the integrated status of your unit, this will be a costly repair because, the entire assembly is combined together with the vcr section as well.
You will need to replace the entire assembly to fix this issue. the lens has burned out.
you can confirm my diagnosis by preforming a cleaning of the lens with a cleaning disc. if the unit continues to not read or play a CD after the cleaning, this will confirm my diagnosis.
Please rate and have a great day:)
SOURCE: my dvd player plays cds but wont play dvds says
Hello,
how long have you been using this player? The problem should be from the lens (laser).
The lens is weak and that's why it cannot read/load DVD's. The weak lens is also what's making it says "disc error" or "Unknown disc". It can still play Cd's because, Cd's does not contain large files, unlike DVD's.
Get
a lens cleaner and use it to clean the lens, but if the lens still does
the same thing even after using the lens cleaner, then it means you
would have to change the whole lens completely to a brand new one.
By so doing your player would play all DVD's with no problem at all.
Good luck.
