LG GSA-E40L Burned Discs wont play on any other dvd player

I have a brand new gsa-e40l multi dvd rewriter. We have downloaded all software included in package when we purchased. We used lightscribe dvd+r disc to burn a movie onto, which in itself was a complicated enough mission (learning about these things still), but the burned discs wont play on our other dvd players. it says that the disc is incompatiable but on the specs of both player and dvd burner they have the same disc. How can I get the disc to be played on our dvd player attached to the tv.

Try using different media ( non light scribe ) and second try using a program such as nero premium or easy media creator 9/10.Most of my dvd's have been successful with good quality especially with nero ultimate/premium

If your LG LightScribe drive will not need drivers to work as a 'normal' DVD drive as this function is Plug n' Play.

BTW - You have a great drive there... I have GSA E10L and a GSA E40L - Both fantastic drives...

However to use LightScribe you will need both:

1: LightScribe System Software
and
2: LightScribe Labeling Software.

LG: GSA-E40L I lost my installation disc, how do i re-install w/out disc?

try going to the LG factory website. You should be able to download the operating system from them for free. Google LG you should be able to find the factory website in this manner. You can also enter the complete model number into google to find what you need.

I need the installation cd for my dvd rw

There isn't a installation CD for the E 40L. I have the same one and Windows has default drivers it will assign to it. The only thing that comes with the burner is bundled DVD burning software and DVD viewing software. The burner is basically Plug and Play (plug it in the usb and Windows will recognize it)

I keep getting skips in audio files when i play them after burning. I have tried burning both data discs (my cd players support .mp3) and Audio discs.

Try burning at a lower speed like 24x. Burning too fast is the cause of the skips, because the data cannot be transferred at a steady pace.

Disk drive does not recognize or read a disk

you could try removing the drivers from your device manager by going through contol panel or by right-clicking on My Computer and then on the hardware tab. you would find it under cd/dvd rom drives.Just right click and click on uninstall. Then if you dont have your driver disk you might be able to download it from softpedia.com. If you have installed drivers more than once you might be able to roll-back drivers but the best bet would be to just uninstall and re-install the drivers.

LG Super Multi will not detect DVDs in the drive

Try the unit on another pc if it can read a dvd disc. If it can read a dvd disc then maybe you can try to uninstall the program for the dvd rewriter and then reinstall it again.

You definitely should call LG--your new gaget isn't working, and it is under warranty. Or try going to their website to see if they have any software upgrades--sounds like you have a bummer, and perhaps a reinstall from their website will do the trick.

Sounds like you may have a firmware issue. I had something similar on a Sony external dvd writer. If you go here: http://uk.lge.com/ click on Download Software in the bottom left, then DVD-ROM(Writer) near the middle, scroll down a bit (maybe also be on the following pages) It's listed as: New firmware (ver. SE02) for only GSA-E40L(External 18X Super multi DVD Writer) Run the firmware updater and you should be good to go
