Brushes won't spin on a Hoover Steamvac SpinScrub Model F5918-900

I have seen other posts and am almost certain that my issue is with the turbine as I have done all of the other trouble-shooting as far as the brush indicator, etc. with no luck.

The only thing I was curious about is where or not the little hand tool that spins would need the turbine to spin as I can use that and it works fine (it would just take me way too long to clean my carpets that way!!!). If this runs off the turbine I wonder why the 'main' brushes do not work (different mechanisms maybe?)

Also, I want to try to get the turbine out myself and buy a replacement as the cost for a repair specialist here is insane but I cannot find anything that easily tells me how to get the machine apart to get to the turbine.

Any help or advise is greatly appreciated!!! And thanks in advance!!!

Well the hand tool works off the suction of the machine and has nothing to do with the turbine that controls the brushes. if you can get the part i can walk you through taking it apart. when you write back, let me know what the model num of your machine, so i can give you the right directions. hope this helps

How to change the belt?

There is no belt on a Hoover SteamVac. The brushes are rotated by an air driven turbine. If the brushes aren't spinning, you most likely need to replace the turbine assembly.

The brushes won't spin. I put new brushes on and it still doesn't spin.

Usually when the brushes won't turn it is due to a bad turbine. Insert a screwdriver into the square hole that the pin on the brush fits into, and see if it turns. If it is seized up, the turbine assembly will need to be replaced.

Were can i find the belt on a hoover steamvac spinscrub the wheels quit spinning on it

There is no belt on the Hoover SpinScrub. The brushes are turned by an air driven turbine. To test the turbine, insert a flat screwdriver into the square hole that the pin on the brush assembly normally fits into, and see if the fitting turns. If it doesn't turn, the turbine has seized up and will need to be replaced.

New Hoover Steam Vac's brushes do not spin

The brushes are turning by an air driven turbine. The turbine has a pivot bushing made of steel inside of it that gets rusty because of the water that is running through it. The turbine will have to be replaced. You can find a genuine hoover replacement part by following the link below.

Hoover Steam Vac - Brushes not turned, no suction power

The Brushes not spinning is most likely is caused by seized bearings in the turbine, requiring shop service (easy fix). The suction issue can be caused by the standpipe seal missing or lower recovery tank not on properly, on some models missing front panel. I would need more exact model info to assist further.
