I have a Hoover SteamVac that I purchased in December 2007. It has been working fantastically, but yesterday, the brushes stopped rotation and there is no suction power - I turned the unit over and all I can hear is blowing air.
The Brushes not spinning is most likely is caused by seized bearings in the turbine, requiring shop service (easy fix). The suction issue can be caused by the standpipe seal missing or lower recovery tank not on properly, on some models missing front panel. I would need more exact model info to assist further.

My hoover is about2yrs old my mother has had hers for about 7-8yrs, and I don't recall hers ever losing suction, but mine did. The brushes still have some movement, but I am not sure if they are going slow or if there speed is normal, and it feels like air is coming up and out of the sides.
It sucks the spills and all but the scrubs do not move at all on my hoover
