Samsung HT Q 100 surround sound only works with DVD

I CANNOT GET THE SURROUND TO WORK WHEN I AM WATCHING NORMAL TV OR SKY. IT IS ONLY WORKING WHEN WATCHING DVD'S. CAN YOU EXPLAIN HOW TO GET THIS WORKING SO THE SURROUND IS ON WHEN WATCHING NORMAL TV AND SKY ON A PERMANENT BASIS

HI, YOU PROB GOT THIS PROBLEM SORTED BY NOW BUT HERES A SUGGESTION,
IM NOT SURE WHAT CONNECTION YOU USE TO GET DIGITAL VIDEO TO UR TV,, SCART, HDMI OR OTHER???
USUALLY THE PROBLEM IS THAT HDMI CONNECTION WILL UPSCALE UR PICTURE AND SOUND TO UR TV BUT UR TV IS NOT CAPABLE OF RETURNING THE SURROUND SOUND THROUGH THE CONNECTION,,,
SO IF U GOT DIGITAL AUDIO CONNECTION,,, YOU CAN USE OPTICAL AUDIO LEAD ASWELL TO RELAY THE SOUND FROM THE TV BACK TO YTHE SPEAKERS,
HOPE U SORTED IT,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, BENNY. T

Look on the subwoofer. Does it have an upmix switch? If not, you cannot upmix the stereo to all speakers. You can also check your TV menu options to see if it has the upmix feature (or similar).

Make sure you turn on the surround sound located on your remote, should be second button from the bottom all the way over on the right.

No suround when watching tv with sky + box,
You will need a DVD player with an optical output, as the sky engineer said. A Co-axial S/PDIF output could also work if your surround sound has that input, however not all units transmit surround encoded sound through the Co-Axial output. Only option really is to upgrade if that doesn't work

hi yes it is....
wot u need to do is.....our red and white audio leads go from sky box to dvd box...we then put our dvd player onto video 1 using function button on remote

No sound thru surround sound system in TV Mode
Hi,
You need to connect your TV to the AUX connection in the back of your HT system. Then set your HT system on AUX 1 and wait about 5 seconds for the TV sound to come through. If it does not work on AUX 1, you may have to try on AUX 2 or AUX 3 settings on your HT system. Make sure the A/V cable you use is good and in working order and is a good quality cable.

You should have a AUDIO menu in which you can simulate true surround sound. This should be in your owners manual. Your DVD is recorded in dolby surround sound that's why on your set it will be reproduced as recorded. I hope Samsung is using a ATSC tuner in that model?

if ur surround hasnt got digital in then it wont work also its better to use the red white and yellow wire, i have hdmi and them wires hooked up and i have sound through everythin all i have to do is put it on aux 2, try it out
