I have a Brother mfc845CW Printer. When I go to add more paper, the printer's Tray is almost impossible to pull open no matter whether I push it in a little, jiggle it, or other movements to help loosen it up so I can remove the tray to refill the paper.
I can generally pull it extremely hard and it opens; however, I'm afraid some time it won't open and my printer will be useless.

It sounds like the feed tire is dirty, OR the feed clutch has sprung. Remove the paper tray On the right side of the copier where you feed the single sheet, you pull down the door. This exposes a fat gray or black feed roller. Take a clean dry towel and dampen it with wd 40. Gently wipe the roller with the cloth turning the roller toward the paper exit direction. Let the WD 40 soak in for ten minutes, replace the paper tray and try to make a copy. If it does, you need a feed roller which will rquire a service cal/take it in. If still no feed the 'clicking' may be a sprung clutch, service call required.
If this helps, please let me know with a vote, thanx
Has the copier ever been cleaned, professsionally? If not, you may need a feed roller.
Unplug the copier. Prepare a dry cloth dampened with WD 40. Take out the paper tray.
Pull down the door on the right side of the copier. You will see a single, fat, gray or black rubber roller. Take the WD 40 cloth and wipe down the roller, turning it in the direction that the paper comes out the machine. Close door and install the paper tray. Let the copier stand for ten minutes.
Plug copier in and try a copy. If it feeds the paper, you need a new feed roller. If it doesn't then remove the paper tray and shoul there be skid marks on the paper then for sure you need a feed roller. If the paper continues to feed hooray, but when it stops feeding you definitely need a feed roller.
This requires a service call unless you have some experience with copiers. Likely this puppy needs a thorough cleaning.
Hi Good day!! here are the steps how to remove paper jam in brother hope it help's you!! 1. Pull the paper tray completely out of the printer. 2. Pull the jammed paper up and out of the printer. 3. Press the cover release button and then open the front cover. 4. Pull out the drum unit assembly. Pull the jammed paper up and out of the printer. If you cannot remove the drum unit assembly easily at this time, do not use extra force. Instead, pull the edge of the jammed paper from the paper tray. If the jammed paper can not be pulled out easily, turn the jam dial towards you as you gently pull the paper out. 5. Open the face-up output tray. Pull the jammed paper out of the fuser unit. If the paper jam can be cleared. 6. Open the jam clear cover. Pull the jammed paper out of the fuser unit. 7. Close the jam clear cover. Close the face-up output tray. If the paper jam still cannot be cleared, for HL-5130 and HL-5140 users go to Step 10, and for all other users go to the next step. 8. Pull the Duplex Tray completely out of the printer. 9. Pull the jammed paper out of the printer or the Duplex tray. Put the Duplex tray back into the printer. 10. Push the lock lever down and take the toner cartridge out of the drum unit assembly. Take out the jammed paper if there is any inside the drum unit. 11. Put the toner cartridge into the drum unit until you hear it lock into place. If you put it in properly, the lock lever will lift automatically. 12. Put the drum unit assembly back in the printer. 13. Put the paper tray in the printer. 14. Close the front cover.
hopefully we can stop problem before it gets worse, take paper tray all the way out of machine, look at back of tray where paper stop is, move to LTR make sure arrow is pointing directly to it, not before od after, then lock it in, the pictograhm has a pad lock symbol to show locked and unlocked. if the blue tape is still in paper tray, remove it. hopefully no damage done to pick up assembly, or gears on paper tray
Open the front door, remove the cartridge/drum...slowly slight the paper out. if it jams at the back ...do the same but rotate the fuser gear..if it jams on the tray not pull as it would cause the paper to break and sensors might get dmaged,
open the printer remove the toner and slowly pull the paper out. Pull in the natural printing direction of the printer, so if the printer pulls the paper from top-tray to bottom-tray when printing you should pull the paper from the bottom tray outwards
Check the paper tray. The part at the end of the paper might not be keeping the paper pushed to the front of the tray. Remove the tray and check the rollers that feeds the paper. They might be slick. Clean them with some WD-40 sprayed on a rag.
I consulted the Brother site again but this time I researched just how to remove the drum. This page has nice drawings that show how to just pull it straight out! They explained the blue button on the right is just for holding the toner in the drum. They also showed, a very important piece of information, where to place the hands as well. I did it slowly because the jammed paper seemed to be 'stuck' to it. It came out easily, with no real force required. I removed the paper and slid the drum back into place. Quite simple once I could see how to do it without risking damage to the printer!
remove the paper jam clear cover on the back side of the printer.
gently push the paperfeeder to the inside and try to pull the paper tray out at that moment (plz watch your fingers..;-))
