Question about Whirlpool ED2FHEXN Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

I own a whirlpool ED5GTGXNQ00 refrigerator. Recently we've noticed the door seals are very hot, and it's coming from the metal surface they close against on the Refrigerator. Now, the freezer is not keeping ice pops frozen. We have owned the unit for four years.

Sounds like the fan in back by the compressor is bad (condensor fan motor ) or dirty coils behind the front kickplate .

Whirlpool refrigerator - we have a repeated problem of defreezer compartment which the door is not getting closed properly, as a result water is not becoming to ice cubes and the entire compartment gets...

If you're paying someone at least have them guarantee their work, that's what came there for. At least they should have a written warranty if the same or related issue from the original problem exists within 6 months.

A suggestion, under your fridge there are 4 adjustable feet which you rotate to set that corner higher or lower, it levels your unit from the uneven surfaces. With a long level (ruler with a liquid sight glass), place on top of your fridge from front to back. Rotate the 2 front adjusters to set the unit a bit higher from the back, keeping it leveled from left to right. This will force your door to lean back to the lowest level (back part of fridge). It will have a higher chance of closing completely to seal your freezer. If you still have sealing problem, use a metal paper clip and check the door seal if the magnetic strip inside attracts metal. If it doesn't or it doesn't have as much attraction, then your sealing problem lies within. Order a new magnetic door seal for your unit.

Good luck, please rate any suggestions given from your search of solutions for you problem. Thank you.

Refrigerator not cooling, only fan is running.Compressor is hot to the touch. Frost accumulating in freezer and on produce drawer temp controls

Somewhere air is getting past the door seal. The door may not be closing all the way. Frost cannot accumulate without a source of water. It comes in the air thats getting in past the seal. Check the drawers to be sure they are all the way in. Check anything that may be sticking out that may prevent the door from closing all the way. Check the door seal for damage and replace the seal if any significant damage is found. Good luck

My refrigerator freezes food in the back but not the front and the door doesn't completely close (looks like the gaskets are to blame). A layer of water forms at the top of the inside of the fridge.

Sounds like all of your woes with this are rooted in the door seal, or lack thereof. Check to see that the fridge is on an even level surface as an uneven surface will skew the box out of square, causing the doors not to close properly. if you can make the door seal, the problems should go away.

GC5SHEXNQ02 Whirlpool 2door ref - Panel gets hot

I am not going to say the problem is normal. Normal operation those strips are placed behind the metal and inside the walls around the door seals to prevent moisture or sweating around the doors. They are usually noticed to become hot when there is a change in the control boards operation. Some brands have the hot gas from the condenser circulating around the doors. If your model has an economy switch, switch it on. I would look for any abnormal operation of the refrigerator like compressor or condenser fan stopping or ice buildup or abnormal temperatures in the fresh food compartment. If this continues I would unplug the refrigerator and open the control panel inside the fresh food section and examine both sides of the control board for signs of heat or burn marks on both sides. May not be anything to be concerned about also because this may be the first time you noticed this. But it should not be too hot to touch. Sea Breeze

Layer of frost on the bottom surface of ice maker

during periods of high humidity and or high use, it is not unusual to notice frost on surfaces in the freezer. the ICM is susceptible due to it being metal and having warm(compared to freezer temp) water in it. make sure the doors ar closed tight and nothing is stuck in the gasket area.
