Do you have high speed internet?
If you do, do you have a problem connecting to the internet?
Okay. Now, when you go to the sound settings in control panel, check to see that the default devices that are used are related to the sound card.
Next, check the battery in the BIOS. You might ask yourself why. If the time is changing on your computer or not, if the battery is not 3.3 volts, the BIOS may not record the settings properly.
If the battery is tested and it is 3.3 volts. Then there is another thing you can do. Only do this if you are confident.
Outside of replacing the motherboard, try flashing the BIOS. If there is any problem with the integrated hardware, the BIOS flash will fix certain problems.
If you do this and still have the problem, then the electrical circuit pathway is not functioning correctly. When the current reaches a certain level, then any component on a motherboard will work. However, if a circuit is weak, then that particular piece of hardware will work sometimes and when you reboot, you are resetting the circuit and then the voltage will work well for a while and then you'll have the same problem.
It's simple. First, go to Dell's website and locate your desktop. They should have a BIOS file that's newer than yours.
Now I know that most Dell computers don't use floppy drives. Open your case and make sure that only one pin on the floppy drive controller is missing because sometimes Dell removes two on purpose. This way it won't function.
If you can connect a floppy drive to your system through a 34 pin ribbon cable and locate a floppy drive and just hook it up with the case open. Make sure the power is off.
Next, after you power on the system, depending on the operating system you have, you'll want to format a floppy by creating a MS-DOS disk. Then, add the BIOS files to the disk. Scan the floppy disk and make sure that all the files are clean.
Then, reboot your computer and select the floppy drive as the first to boot.
Use dir command to check to see what's on the floppy. Then, run the executable file. It will ask you to enter the .rom file or .bin file. Make sure that you don't have anything else on to cause a power outage because if this process is interrupted, then you'll have to repeat it.
After the flash is complete, reboot your computer, go into the BIOS and select the default settings and save them.
Reboot your computer again and select the BIOS features your want and save them again.
