I have a beko frost free fridge freezer its only 18 months old and Ive got a build up of ice in the fridge. all my food is getting frozen and Ive got my temp dial down to min .cant understand what cou

Is the door seal working correctly? If the door has become distorted slightly it might be letting in moisture via a gap in the door seal which will result in the build up in ice.

If you can see ice build up leading from the door area, this will give you a clue to where the seal may be faulty. Check that the door is squared up to the freezer with a spirit level and if required gently bend the door back into place by holding the corner with your feet and adjust from the other corner.

the fridge might have iced up in the coil due to a defrost problem. one way to check it is to leave the fridge off for a few hours and leave the door open. turn the fridge back on after the few hours and see if the performance is any better. Let me know how it goes

How do i engage defrost

"Frost free" fridges automatically cycle in and out of defrost mode a couple (or more) times a day. There is no user intervention required. If your frost free fridge is building up frost, there's a good chance that the defrost circuit has developed a problem.

before digging into the defrost circuit: If frost is building up only on a door or door opening - this is an indication of a poor freezer door seal. Once the seal is repaired or replaced, the frost should stop building up. If the frost is throughout the inside the freezer - and the temperature of the fresh food compartment and eventually the freezer is climbing - then it's more involved than a door seal.

Typical problems areas of the defrost circuit are: the defrost terminator or sensor, defrost timer assembly and defrost heating element. While the circulating fan(s) is not part of the defrost circuit - it is usually visible and should be checked when inspecting defrost heaters and terminator components in the freezer. If the fan(s) has failed or is otherwise unable to spin, it should be replaced.

If you need more help, please provide the brand and model fridge you have. Good luck!

check that it defrost elements (heater elements) are working if they working then check if the sensor is working and if the door is sealing when its closed or if the drain is open.

We have the same and I think it is because the freezer door bounces open when we shut the fridge door. Then the freezer compartment ices up, the fan clogs up with ice and cannot blow cold air into the fridge, and the fridge gets warm and the milk goes off.
Solution? We have bought one of those child safety clips (search for fridge safety clip or lock) to hold the freezer door closed.
Simple design error. Expected better from Bosch :-(

Bosch intelligent frost free 44

there is a drain hole in the freezer dept in the fridge that is blocked This requires removing all the panels etc within the freezer until you get to the main grill at the back This will be iced up so you might have to wait a while or you might be able to chip away at it. You will then see the drain hole concerned at thre bottom Try pocking a thin wire down it or poor hot water over it Its a bit of fiddling around but is not hard to clear Problem solved

The small drain pipe on the back of the fridge gets clogged, hence no drainage when defrosting, hence ice blocks the airflow between the freezer compartment and the fridge compartment.
Remove the rubber stop from the drain pipe and clean (can be found above the motor)
Defrost the fridge for a few days (it takes at least 48 hours). During this time, if you are not brave enough to remove the internal panels of the freezer and continually clean the water, check for water coming out and clean.
If during the defrost there is no water coming out the drain pipe, use about 2m of flexible and strong wire to clean the pipe.
The aim is to unblock the pipe once the ice has melted.
