I have a treadle sewing machine that I purchased yesterday. It says New South on the top part of the machine head. I would like to know when it was made and can I get a manual for it?

SOURCE: I have a Singer Sewing Machine ?treadle machine

Your machine was made in 1936 in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Québec, Canada.

The part you seek is still available from any singer service center. Here is a link to their locations and contact phone numbers. Call the one closest to your location and enjoy your machine

SOURCE: need a manual for a Golden Star treadle sewing machine model 5048883 A.G. Mason Co.of Cleveland, Ohio, a subsidary of White Sewing Machine Company

I suggest that you look for a similar White manual. Sometimes you can also run across these types of old manuals on Ebay or Etsy.

Good luck.

When I stitch an embroidery pattern, my Janome MC9700 keeps stopping with the warning message lower the foot

I am assuming, here, that the - I agree - the message is confusing - assuming the pressure foot is Down. Computerized sewing machines are Not my cup of tea.
Recently, I purchased my Granny Queen's Treadle machine, at a sale in OkC. Have her treadle head, so very well machined that it 'purrs.' An old, black Singer.
Sorry.
Isn't your machine new enough to ask the seller what it means? No shame when it makes No sense, in asking the folk you bought it from! Seriously, they want you to be happy with your new machine, and will do anything to help...I'm a cranky Old broad... If not happy with Anything, I write my newspaper. Post online, on FB. Call my Congressmen. You have options, the first being - ask the seller of your Janome!

I just purchased a 1920ish Phoenix Treadle sewing machine model FF; have instruction book--written in German. I need to know how to thread the bobbin.

Most treadles have a bobbin filling mechanism that attaches to the a mated part near the wheel then you lower on to the treadle wheel to make it spin and wind the bobbin or do what I do...when I need something translated from German, I ask my my Bavarian Mom! If that is not an option find a new German friend, eat a your local German restaurant, or call the local embassy! Be sure to take the manual with you. More tedious and less fun is typing the German directions into a translation app.

The cord drives the machine from the foot peddle.

There is no "belt" size. You need to measure the distance with some yarn and buy some leather treadle machine belt. There are a few vendors on ebay. The machines had a "staple" of sorts that would hold the treadle belts together that might be hard to find.
