I have Sharp TV Model LC-42D64U sound cuts out after two hours or less. Sound only comes back after leaving TV off for about an hour.

There are several processors in the tv, and it sounds as if you have one that is going out, or on its last leg. I would recommend that you take it to a tv repair shop and have it fixed. The cost of a repair is less than the cost of a new tv, thus making it worth the money.

You could open up the TV and look for signs of burnt components then try to replace the components or try to find a replacement for the entire affected board on ebay or something. If you can find out what the problem is maybe the service person will lower there price. $600 does seem very steap, it should be something closer to $60 an hour with maybe the first $60 as an estimate.

On the Vaio:
right click volume on system tray and select playback devices
select hdmi/ sdip as default and then in the properties deselect dolby

On the television make sure you are on the right input. Press menu--setup--hdmi setup--audio select--digital

There is a fix for this. Call a Sharp servicer or Sharp electronics the cost of repair is around 200.00 dollars.

More than likly you have to plug in your hd-tv cables because i had the same problem.

I had the same problem.

All I did was unplug the standard cable wire from my tv and used RCA cables to connect my TV to my digital cable box the the Input 1 jack in the back. It also increased the video quality.

My Sharp TV LC-26sh12U when at 50 is not good. After a hour or two I can hardly hear the program. What is happening?

Capacitor is what I found out.. (Supposedly althoug Ive not verified).. If you can send here I'd love to see the unit...

these sets are notorious for bad inverter boards and bad video processor boards.Sharp is well aware of the problem,and will fix the units if you push the issue.

I had the exact same problem. It was very frustrating to say the least. As it turned out the AV board went out and it cost $600 at total of $800 including labor, which makes this very expensive to replace. I actually had to think about junking the unit before it was even two years old.
