First, make sure you have the correct replacement battery. Go ahead and get a Lithium CR123A battery. These are rather expensive at retail, so do yourself a favor and get as many as you need at an online source such as Amazon. These sensors require one battery. The DSC glass break sensors in our home required two. Our glass break sensor went out within a week of the motion sensor, so I just replaced all of them. YMMV.

Second, determine which way the sensor is housed in the, uh, housing. The "bottom" will have a small tab with a circle in the middle, like the picture below.

As you can see from my incredimazing MS Paint skillz, use your knuckles to gently tap the sensor away from the tab. It should pop right off. This can be annoying if you don't have lightning speed and cat-like reflexes to prevent it from falling behind the entertainment center.

Once the sensor is removed from the housing, push the battery cover off of the battery compartment. Remove the old battery, and install the replacement in the same direction. Put the cover back on, and then align the sensor in the housing until it is flush with the bottom part of the housing. Remember to recycle the old battery if at all possible. Good luck!

I have this light for 2 years with no problems at all. recently, it seems that the "left side" of the sensor stopped working. (If I walk right in front or in the right side, the lights will come...

  1. Locate the sensor on the motion detector. The most common problem with a motion detector is a sensor that is obstructed or dirty. Remove any dirt, grime or anything else that may be blocking the view of the sensor. If you need to actually touch the sensor itself to clean it, use a soft cloth or cotton swabs.
  2. Determine if the motion detector has electricity running through it properly. Connect an electrical meter to the wires from the sensor itself. If electricity is indeed running to the sensor, you likely have a broken senor. If there is no electricity making it to the sensor, your motion detector has an electrical short. In the case of an electrical short, you will need the help of a professional electrician to fix it.
  3. Visit a hardware or supply store to buy a replacement sensor

Thanks for understanding.

Hello, I have a Sportline Digital Motion Sensor.

Hello,
Do you mean the screen is blank or you cannot remember how to program it? Was it working perfect until you replaced the Battery?
Make sure the battery is inserted with the positivet side up?
Manual is here: http://www.sportline.com/manuals/370.pdf
Replacing the battery: 1. Unscrew the battery compartment cover on the backside of the unit using a small Phillips screwdriver and remove the cover. 2. Remove the exhausted battery from the unit, and insert a new battery (be sure to place the positive (+) side of the battery is visible, facing toward the battery compartment cover). 3. Replace the battery compartment cover on the battery compartment and fasten the screw (CAUTION: do not over tighten).

My sensor no longer works. It use to turn on the porch light when someone entered the carporch. How do I open the sensor so that I can put new batteries in it? I know that it uses AAA batteries.

Manual for this sensor is not available.
In the Zenith I have installed The motion sensor battery slot was h at the back side of the sensor, you had to remove the sensor from the wall sliding it on one side to access the battery. It mounted two AA batteries, not AAA.
