It sounds like the machines main power PC board is faulty. If you open the machine check whether the LED on the main PWB assembly board is on, if not, replace this PWB board.

There is a loudish noise coming from bottom right of machine and only a small quantity of water in the drum compared to normal.

This is likely where the drain pump sits... you either have something caught in the pump rubbing against the impeller or a bad drain pump.

LE errors mean the motor is locking up and cannot turn the drum. If the drum turns freely by hand then it could be https://www.repairclinic.com/RepairHelp/How-To-Fix-A-Washing-Machine/406-200-684484-/LG-LE-MOTOR-ERROR-Motor-Stator-overheat-or-connection-error-WM2016CW
If that is not the problem then the motor needs replaced.

LG F1406TDSP6 Washing machine starts washing ok then when it comes to drain after a while the error message ERROR - CHECK DRAIN HOSE AND FILTER. We have checked all this and all pumps are clean and hoses...

It can be that the drain pump is consuming more currrent than is required from the board as the processor senses that this is a malfunction and so shuts down as a safety mode.
So recheck on your drain valve/pump . test from the outside. If not the fault can be failure of the pump driver in the main board causing the error related to the drain pump.
Check the main board .
