the solutions are:
1. If its in backside of laptop its is the serial number that are produced to identify the laptop where its manufactured and any defects are easily solved by using this. this are unique number which are produced by laptop manufacturing company. that are used to find and solve the errors in case of any warranty claims , manufacturing defect of the particular model number.
2.If its in any stickers other than labelled HP Pavillion . just check that it may some serial numbers or any activation code for software programs. find which company in that serial number sticker.

With newer Canons you have to run a software program to "initialize" the board when you replace it. The board comes blank, and you have to add the program and settings to run the camera. The software also allows you to replace the serial numbers, do exposure and auto focus adjustments etc. Canon does not sell this proprietary software. You would have to send the camera to Canon and they would charge you the set repair price. Wish I had better news. But try adding the latest firmware. I am not sure if the 40D is the cutoff for this or it started with the 50D. You have to do this with all current Canon models.

You can try calling the company and telling them you lost the serial number. If you have the CD case, many times they will allow you to take a picture of it and fax it over as proof of ownership and they will issue a new serial number. If they wont do that, then you will have to obtain a new serial number
Serial numbers for some applications need to be typed in, not copy and paste. Make sure you use the correct case upper or lower. Make sure the Zeros are the Number and not the capitol letter O.
In the number you give it looks like there are 5 number "0" and 1 letter "O" Also if you did'nt actually buy the program but downloaded it from the internet the serial could be blacklisted by the software company. If you did buy the product and it wont accept the numbers then take it/send it back to the retailer.
Sounds to me what you're trying to do is register a CRACKED COPY thats not a good way as company's know about cracked copyied keys.
