It sounds like it could be a conflict issue. if you recently installed any software try uninstalling it. if that doesn't work then try doing a system recovery.
open the "Battle Realms.ini" file inside the Battle Realms directory folder, change the resolution there (from 1280x720 to 800x600) problem solved
PD: you cannot play in a higher resolution, even hacking :)

Try making sure that you are typing it exactly the same first, but if that doesn't work then try typing it in all caps, or not in caps if you were. Hope that works for you.
yes.... just right click and click properties......then a window will pop up.... choose compatibility...and then check the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for"...... then choose Windows xp(service pack 2)!:DD.. or if it doesnt work.. keep the same configuration and run it as an administrator!!!:DD
Well, than you guys have a problem. You could try sarching your house again, and then on the internet for a serial or cd key or something like that, but you then will never be able to play online. It may be a stupid solution, but next time try to save your serials on your PC somewhere or on a DVD...
PS: you could try playing online by direct connect, using Hamachi
