What model would serial AF854490 and AL507447 I have 5 and 3 in cabinets from my 98 year old great aunt and her mom I was told. I have a 522 and an 1120.

Finding the age of the Necchi sewing machine that you personally own doesn't take too much effort. You need the serial number and possibly the model number.

The G2775438 was built in 1913, according to the Singer database: http://www.singerco.com/admin-support/machine-serial-numbers/single-letter . This serial number is for a Model 66 (built after March 19, 1913). The value depends on the condition and the specific cabinet and accessories that are with the machine. A worn model 66-1 with a basic cabinet is ~$50. The higher end cabinets can raise the price to $125. (Those were the prices ~10 years ago.) Someone wanted $175 for an advertised good condition model 66-1 with a really good cabinet on Etsy a few years ago.

Hard to say. Serial numbers can be found almost anywhere. Sometimes they are stamped in the metal of the base, maybe under the machine. Check the edge of the base if it is installed in a cabinet. Machines like this usually have only a serial number, no model number. The serial number will designate the model number on this list:

Don't expect it to be worth a whole lot of money. Most of the time, their biggest value is to the owner who can continue to use these awesome machines for many years yet.

Manufacturers put the numbers anywhere on the machine. Often, they can be found under the machine and may be a plate but often are numbers stamped into the metal. It may be on the metal base and could be hidden by the cabinet. However, if it is like some older Singers, there were no model numbers on the machines. The serial number actually signifies the model, ie N-6001-N-21000 is a Model 15.

You could also take the machine to a sewing repair shop. Some of the older shop technicians are probably more familiar with these machines.

the singer site on the web has a page of photos of old sewing machines and the history. compare your machine with the photos .. to be 4 generations old I would expect it to be a treadle machine with leather belt drive
if it has a rod attached to the foot platform that would ,along with the cabinet or table , get a good price
the value in that case will be in the table that it would have come with as well as the machine it is possible to contact the singer customer service as well and they may have a value available for you.
I would expect it to be up in the $5000.00 to $10.000 bracket depending on the antique demand at the time

I got the same machine when I was 12 years old and still use it today. Try adjusting the tension - it's the know with number 0-9. To decrease tension turn it to the left. To increase tension turn it to the right.

On the side of the bobbin case is a screw that also can be turned with a small screw driver to increase or decrease tension the same way as mentioned above.

To wind a bobbin put the cotton reel on the top pin, take the thread to the left and round the little wheel and back to the bobbin that should be on the winder, wind the thread round a few times to take a grip, release the stop motion in the balance wheel, turn the winder button so the winder moves to the balance wheel and press on the foot control slowly.
When you put the bobbin in the bobbin case make sure it turns anti clockwise.
