Just moved, no garage remote, need to set the opener in my SUV.
I just bought a house and no one seems to know where the garage door opener is. My SUV has one built in but I don't know how to program it with out the transmitter. Can anyone tell me how? Thank you so much.
Re: Just moved, no garage remote, need to set the opener...
The garage door opener is needed to use the HomeLink system that is in your vehicle. This design is so that no one can program theirs to gain access to your garage. You will have to obtain a working remote and it will have to be programmed at the garage door.

Hold the sync button on the garage door opener located on the roof on the garage. Hold it until the light bulb on the garage dor opener blinks. Hold the remote until the garage door opens or closes. You hold the remote close to the three buttons on the vehicle. You choose which button you want the remote to transmit to, and you hold it down. With your other hand, depress the garage door remote opener, and hold it very close to the 3-button assembly. Wait for the red L.E.D. light to blink slowly. If it does not blink slow, continue moving the remote around, until it does blink slow. When it starts to blink slowly, stop moving the remote around. Wait until the light starts blinking rapidly. When the light blinks rapidly, the process is complete.
Depending on the type of vehicle home remote system you have and the type of garage door opener installed will determine how you program the system in your vehicle.
Below is a web address for the owners manual to your Buick. It will show you step by step how to set your Buick's remote system to open your garage door.
Good luck.

1. Press and hold the two outside garage opener buttons located on rear view mirror until the red LED light blinks (could be 20 sec.)
2. Press and hold the middle button on the rear view mirror while holding a garage door remote 1-3 inches away from the mirror and pressing the remote button. Do this until the blinking LED gets noticeably faster.
3. Once programmed - use the garage door opener on the mirror thru 3 cycles or more to verify.
Most openers are programmed the same. You normally program the house garage opener to accept the new remote. Your garage opener will have a button to press to add in a new remote. Normally you press this and then press the remote in the car and hold until your lights on your opener flash or the garage door closes. (check your manual on your garage door opener)
drive away from your house and find a place to park. Take your garage door opener and hold it up by the openers on you van . Press the button that you want to operate you garage door and the original opener at the same time it should flash 2 or three times . Now you should be able to use the one that came with the car. (note: it will depend on the age of you garage door opener)
What the last guy post is correct, but you have to tel your car what kinda remote you have. Assuming you have homelink Which 95 percent of the cars do ill give you a very short version on how to do this. First thing you need to do is clear the code in your car from any other owners. Do do this turn your car's key to the on or acc non running position. Press and hold the first and last button. Untill the light reacts different ether starts flashing or flashes faster etc. Then you need to get one of your remotes. Press and hold the button you want to set in your car and press your remote button at the same time untill the light reacts diferent. Mind you hold your garage remote as close to your car remote as you can. Then finally Find your learn button on your garage door opener it's self it can be in the back or the front if its in the front you have to remove the cover press the button once DO NOT HOLD IT. then go to your car and press the button you set for about 2 seconds and repet 1-2 more times untill your garage door moves. Make sure nothing is in the way of the garage door. (I know that should go with out saying.)
