Bought used. hard drive has unknown password. How to bypass password on hard drive?

The only way to bypass the password is to do a factory reset.

Mr. Gates, yes there is away to change the pw recommended you get a tech out to do it. Change admin pw not over the internet. Should have a paper work to back it up. Big time security thing Hard drive access and stuff

You can remove or change the Window's User or administrator's password. You need access to a computer with Internet access to download the Hiren's Boot CD and burn it onto a CD. Then insert this CD into the laptop/computer and boot up the laptop/computer with the Hiren's CD and follow the instructions. Only two places can assist you on how to reset your bios password on a laptop or notebook. Acer Support is the first and the second is Unlockbiosrecovery.com the only non manufacturer to help you reset your bios password or hard drive password on a laptop. The service is legit and very helpful when I need to bypass a bios password or hard drive password on a laptop that I am working on. They have simple instructions on how to get the information needed to calculate your unique bios master password for your laptop. That info and $20 gets you the same bios master password that Acer support would calculate and give to you for $150 and they guarantee it to work. I have checked this site by ordering a master password that I already had for my Dell from Dell Support which I misplaced, when I found my original bios master password from Dell Support and compared it to the bios master password Unlockbiosrecovery.com sent me and they were exactly the same password. Saves me a lot of time and frustration when I repair a laptop that has an unknown bios password or unknown hard drive password that was set in bios. What model is it?
Where or when exactly is it asking for the password?
It could either be a BIOS, hard drive or Windows password. Can you be more specific?

Most, if not all, Compaq Presario notebooks have a recovery function that can be accessed by pressing EITHER F10 or F11 (depending on the model) when you power the machine up.

This will revert the computer back to factory settings, deleting all files currently on it, including Windows passwords. If you have files on it & it's asking for a Windows password, there are other ways to bypass it without deleting files.

It should work unless it's a BIOS or hard drive password that's preventing you from using it. Should that be the case, the password may have been put on there at the store where it was bought or the previous owner, if applicable. You may have to contact them if the recovery fails or cannot be accessed because of said password.

Most "laptop" computer do *NOT* have a jumper that can be used to bypass a BIOS password.
This is DELIBERATELY done, so that a thief in possession of your laptop cannot bypass your password, and thus cannot use your stolen laptop.

Hard drive passwords cannot be broken or gotten past. There are no special tricks unfortunately....most people that have an unknown hard drive password are forced to get a new drive and start over. If you know what the old BIOS password was, sometimes when people make a bios password they make the hard drive password the same. BIOS passwords and user account passwords can be reset......hard drives cannot. If you need the files from the hard drive....you might be able to access the files by removing the drive and using an IDE / SATA to USB adapter and connecting to a different computer.

There are a number of methods that can be used to bypass or reset the BIOS password, like

• Using a manufacturers backdoor password to access the BIOS
• Use password cracking software
  
• Reset the CMOS using the jumpers or solder beads.
  
• Removing the CMOS battery for at least 10 minutes
