I can't figure out how to activate the wireless function on my Compaq PC. It just says the function isn't activated but can't figure out how to do it

Activate the Bluetooth functions of your Compaq laptop to connect your computer to external devices such as mice, keyboards and smartphones without the aid of a wire. Bluetooth technology allows devices from different manufacturers to exchange data, communicate and share files despite differences in operating software. Bluetooth antennae can cause a significant battery drain, so they are usually turned off by default. Turn on your Bluetooth to start searching for available devices in range of your computer.

Click "Start" and type "wireless" into the "Start Search" field. Click the "HP Wireless Assistant" icon in the list of results. Click the "Turn ON" button in the "Bluetooth" section to activate the Bluetooth antenna for your Compaq laptop.

Active the bluetooth module by clicking on the FN [Function key] and the wireless key, this will activate the bluetooth hardware, please note that your bluetooth driver needs to be installed to working correctly

The scroll pad on the touch pad needs a particular driver Synaptics Pointing Device Driver. This will actually run at the startup after installed which will activate the functionality of scroll on the touch pad. You can also actually turn this function on and off so this is a friendly user.

Press FN+F8

Do the following :

1. Turn Laptop off, then disconnect adapter and remove battery. Re assemble and restart.
2. Try clicking the button activating the wireless card.
3. Reinstall wireless card drivers, select drivers from Compaq Presario V6205NR Notebook PC
4. If all that did not work, then the internal adapter is faulty. Buy an external wlan adapter:WLAN Adapter WL-167G-£12.90 new
   
   
   
   
   
   

there is a button to activate the wireless adapter and some times its a function key on your keyboard that should look like an antenna (blue colored).

what is your Windows OS? XP or Vista? to activate the wireless, press Fn F2 or just look for the wi-fi switch located above the Function keys or sometimes on the edge of the laptop with a picture of wireless signal or wave or antenna that resembles wireless.

On some models check to make sure that the actual physical "switch" is turned on (if there is one). Usually located in the front or side of the laptop. Also, make sure your HOLDING the function key while pressing F2, otherwise it won't work. Hope this helps!
