My washer makes grinding sound when washing, how do I fix this?

Its the drain pump it has something caught in it happens all the time to me

this coupler is not for this washer!

Possible that the grinding noise comes from the drum, irregular movement or broken paddles.
You can try and attempt only if equipped with a fundamental understanding of the working .

2. Replacing bearings

Check the bearings. They may be worn out. If you put too much clothes into the washer at a time it causes the washer not to be able to wash/move/rinse/spin correctly due to the weight and due to this it wears out the bearings. My washer makes a funky grinding type of sound too when its washing and I heard from a friend that it may be the bearings.

My Maytag Performa makes a grinding sound when it agitates. When it starts to dump the water it makes a loud grinding on metal sound... really loud. What is the problem and how much to fix?

hi, this grinding sound is coming from the pump. the pump device seems to have a broken impeller that is located inside the pump. You will not be able to replace this internal part. This device is fixed and you will have to replace the entire pump assembly.

This will happen if some debris or coins make it threw the pump housing. these debris will settle in the pump housing near the impeller and it will grind while in operation or, draining procedure. the solid debris will eventually damage the impeller and break it off the drive bolt. this will all happen in time but, it usually starts with the minor grinding sound.
