High voltage from lightning damaged your TV. Many parts could have been damaged permanently. If the TV costs a few hundred dollars, It would probably be cheaper to buy a new TV than to get the one you got now repaired by a shop.

Mine started doing the same thing.

I turn power off (pull Plug) for a few seconds then try again.

Works OK but must perform unplug procedure each time.

SOURCE: Phillips Flat TV Model 20pf4121\105 (Flashing green led)

I had exactly the same problem When the TV was switched on all I could see was a flashing green light. After cheching the TV internals and not seeing a problem including the power supply unit which looked and checked normal. Here is what I did to get M TV working again.
Disconnect it from the power supply. Hold down all the buttons simultaneously i.e. the on/off, the volume, the programme, menu buttons, all of them simultaneously and Plug it into the power supply again.
Lo and behold My TV jumped back into life after an absence of about 4 weeks.
Try it yourself exactly as above.

Best of luck.

Sounds like an issue with the power supply board. We will have to go component by component and you will need to knowledge of using a multimeter. If you are skilled enough to do this then let me know and I will help you troubleshoot it.

HELP! I think my TV got zapped and is ruined from storm!

Check whether the power outlet has power. If it has, I suggest please do not attempt to switch on the TV, unless checked by a qualified service technician.

Popping sound and then the picture went out no sound makes a crackling sound and the blue led light just blinks

Hello

The sound you heard is probably a cap that has blown on the power supply. On plasma tv's some times you can hear the buffers pop but you said this is an LCD and that is USUALLY a blown cap.

The good news is power supply boards can be found on ebay. Or if you have a local electronics guy he can replace them. Sometimes a blown cap just happens, and sometimes its a sign of bigger problems so I tend to replace the board.

If you are comfortable you can take the back panel off, find the power supply board and look for caps with DOMED TOPS or BLOWN OFF TOPS. And then you can be sure. In most cases the power supply board is easy to find, the power cord plugs in to it.

PLEASE PLEASE dont put your fingers where they dont belong, and if you dont know what you are doing call someone who does. No tv is worth calling 911 to get your heart restarted.

Best wishes

My 42 inch flat screen was on and the all of sudden there was a big pop and the TV went blank. I could hear it clicking inside after this happened. Pulled the power plug to stop it. What caused the big...

It sounds like one of the Electrolytic Capacitors in the TV has gone, this can be caused by voltage fluctuations, Ambient Temperatures around the TV and sometimes they just fail for no apparent reason. If you are handy with some basic electronic tools you could open the back of the TV and you would possibly see the remains of the blown component as bits of paper like material around where a capacitor used to be.

TV will not power on.

I guess your TV is DLP.
Please notice the follow symthoms:
When you on TV, did you hear some strange noise from the back of the TV. If yes, the color wheel needs replacing.
If no, check the lamp. Take a look to bottom of lamp, you will see white pot or sometime a pop up there due to lamp cycle is going to end. When changing lamp, check the ballast and power sup, too. If you see caps are poping up. Pull out those board and replace the poped caps.

Tv plays sound but no picture or any signs of backlight

This sound is a capcitor pop and this could be in the power supply unit itself. The glass could be a fuse that took the brunt from the capcitor pop.

1. Unplug the unit and do not plug it in.
2. if its under warrenty take it in please!
3. if its not under warrenty and you know eletronics verify what cap popped and replace that and the fuse.
4. if you do not know about eletronics this work would cost you around $150 for the wrok done.

Good luck I hope this information helps you!!

Pioneer projection tv SD-582HD5

I had the same problem, try running the TV on Mute, if it is a bad solder joint the sound can vibrate the solder point and trip the relay, if the TV doesn't trip off with the sound on mute then it is probably the big power transformer's solder connection needs resoldered. sound vibration from those big pioneer speakers may loosen the solder joint over a period of time because the transformer is heavier and bulky and vibrates a lot.
