Your freezer door seal may be the problem forcing the freezer side to work too long, thus affecting fridge side.

SOURCE: Items sometimes freeze on refrigerator side of unit - model GSS25LGMA

It is most likely a bad damper motor.  This is where the cool air comes out into the fridge section.  On this model it is a fairly common problem and comes a whole assembly.  The part # is WR49X10091 and will cost anywhere from $100 to $122.  Knowing this model I would bet this is your problem.  If the damper is bad and stuck open cold air will just keep blowing in.  It is suppose to open and close based on the temp setting.  Let me know if you have any other questions.

SOURCE: GE Arctica Profile getting too cold, temp set to 37 actual temp is 25-35

Wow, so you dropped some money into it, eh? I would take a look at the damper door asslb(DIFFUSER). located at the very top left of your refrigerator section in back. It has a motorized door that opens and close's and it may be stuck open. More than likely it is broken and needs to be replaced. GOODLUCK!!!!

FYI: All your cold air in your refrigerator comes from your freezer!

Hi,

Have you recently had the mother board replaced? If so, was all the instruction followed to the letter? On units with a medal liner, there is a terminator wire change that needs to be done, this is the reason for this question. Two things can happen if not, the air damper can remain open causing freezing or can remain closed causing high temps. How are the temps in the rest of the unit? There are 4 thermistors total in that unit 2 in each section, if all else is ok with temps, I would suspect a terminator is out of value and can air flow issues. But, before you start this hunt. Make sure all the food is on the shelves, not on the walls or obstructing the thermistors, they look like a white bubble with vent located in the side walls.

Good Luck, I hope this helps.

Refrigerator food freezing even when on lowest setting

There is one of three reasons why your fridge section is freezing food. You didnt mention whether you had a side by side or freezer on top or bottom model, so the following checks may not apply to your unit.

One reason food might be freezing is your cold control has failed, and will not turn the unit off when the physical temps are correct. When this occurrs food normally freezes throughout fridge section, top, bottom, middle, front and back.
BOTH controls, though you may only have one, should be at the middle setting. Adjust your controls, place a plastic cup of water at the top, the middle, and bottom shelf of your fridge. Check all three AFTER 24 hours. if all three are ice, you COULD have a bad cold control.

It is possible you might also have a door damper that is stuck open. A door damper is a swinging or sliding door that opens / closes either when temp control settings are adjusted, or on some fridges, when either door is opened, the damper closes. Please note, door dampers are USUALLY only present on side by side refrigerators. They can have a motor, or thermostat open the door automatically, which can break, and others will simply have a lever of some sort, which usually wont.

If after 24 hours, only the middle and bottom cups are ice, your evaporator fan motor, in the freezer, is likely not operating. Not knowing the BRAND you own, it could be the motor itself, a thermostat located on the evaporator, your defrost heater, or a main computer control board that controls the fan motor.

Sorry I cant be as specific as id like, but i had to cover all possible bases

MAYTAG REFRIGERATOR MSD2756GEQ ALTHOUGH I HAVE THE TEMP SETTING FOR THE REFRIGERATOR SET AS LOW AS POSSIBLE , IT STAYS SO COLD THAT IT FREEZES MUCH OF THE FOOD .

Hello,
They most likely problem is going the damper asm. that opens/closes to let air flow into the refrig.when is calls for cooling then closes when its cold enough. That damper is stuck open andletting in too much cold air. To repair that the damper assambly should be replaced ,the part # for it is 61005991 It fits in the upper left corner of the fresh food section, trying to close it some by hand now will restrict some air flow and perhaps everything wont freeze, until the damper can be replaced. It can be purchased at your local appliance parts store on online at

Freezer runs constantly. food freezes in bottom

I see this happen a lot on these models. The defrost control board is part of four operations. If you changed the Defrost control board then one of the two thermostats is not responding to changes in temperature settings. For freezer if turning the thermostat warmer should cause the compressor not to run as much and open the damper and regulate. If the only place the thermostat setting is placed to off and it responds only to off I would believe that thermostat is the reason. I believe you are on the right track to repair but if you have a look at the wiring diagram you see the connection and point I'm trying to make here. Let me place the diagram and send you a link shortly, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Ice and water not working, then freezing in refrigerator, leaking

If the water tank in the fresh food section is leaking then you will need to replace it. the freezing in the fresh food section is due to the damper door not closing when it should. at the top left of the fresh food side there is a door that controls how much cold air it gets from the Freezer side. This door on your GE is controled by a motorized door witch is controled by a controlboard witch is reading sensors in your freezer and freshfood section for tempretures.

In short your freezing problem could be any of these:
temp sensor, Motorized damper door or control board. I would check the Motorized damper door first.

Freezing in frig.

Check the air dampers at the bottom of the fresh food section. They may have been moved to a open position. If so close them up some.
Otherwise the cold control thermostat may need to be replaced.
