Kenmore HE3t sanitary cycle setting has changed. Water temp selection only allows Hot/Cold selection but should offer the Extra Hot selection. All other settings test out properly. Is there a way to reset factory settings for cycles?

I have an HE3t and can't get the door to open. I have tried rewashing the load that is in there, and I have set and unset the lock. What's going on?

Try unplugging the washer for 10 minutes, plugging it back in and test to see if the door will unlock. If it doesn't then you have a bad door lock mechanism or contol board or both. You usually can manually unlock the door by removing the bottom front panel, with the washer unplugged, and reaching up into the door lock mechanism. There is a tab or ring on the bottom that you pull to release the door. Open the door and look for broken plastic pieces on the door strike or in the latch on the mechanism. Usually you won't see anything. If no broken pieces then remove the top panel, washer unplugged, and find the ccu. This is the main control board located in the back center of the machine. Check for loose connections at the ccu and for broken wires. Jiggle and push the wiring connectors into the ccu to make sure they are tight. Plug washer in and test to see if it started working. We have had a lot of repairs with this ccu unit as the relays on the board have a bad weld that gives an intermittent connection, causing this repair. If the washer works by plugging these connectors in tight then put it back together and use it. If it fails again then replace the ccu. In some instances the door lock mechanism can be bad. Unfortunately there is no good test for this. To replace the lock mechanism, you remove the top panel,(washer unplugged). Open the door, remove the three screws that hold the lock mechanism to the cabinet, unplug the 3 to 4 wiring plugs from the lock mechanism and install the new assembly. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists

F11 appears and will not continue washing. It beeps and the door will not open.

This code indicates a serial communication error, meaning communication between the central control unit (ccu) and the motor control unit (mcu) cannot be sent correctly. Check the wiring harness connections at the CCU and the MCU. Unplug and reseat and make sure there is no corrosion. It can also indicate a problem with the door lock relay on the control board, a faulty hall sensor, or the mcu or ccu themselves. I think that I'd recommend getting an appliance tech to take a look at it, but try the unplug/reseat electrical connections fix first. Very sorry for your trouble. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Kenmore Elite HE3t, door is locked and will not open

You may have to use the manual release to open your door. The following link explains how:

Your washer may have experienced a momentary program glitch which can cause interruptions in operation. Sometimes resetting the Central Control Unit (CCU) will coreect these problems. To reset, you have to unplug the washer for AT LEAST 30 minutes. If the problem reoccurs after a CCU reset, then you have a legitimate problem. Take note of any symptoms and/or error codes that may be displayed. If these procedures do not correct your problem, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

My washing machine stops all the time and beeps with the F 11 flashing. I have tried unplugging the machine so it can reset itself but that doesn't work. I am ready to throw it away! It seems to have...

Sometimes the unplugging helps, or hitting "Cancel" several times.  Guaranteed to work though is to remove top, reach down the top to the door lock.  (Tight squeeze and need to be a little tall to reach) Once your hand is down there, on bottom of lock mechanism is a small handle that must be pulled straight down and manually unlock the door.  This can also be accomplished by removing lower front panel and reaching up to do the same.   BTW, while in the top, make sure all the electrical connections are tight.  I found some loose before, probably from the spinning action.

    ERROR CODE

Here are the steps to unlocking the door manually if clothes are still in the machine.
    1.Unplug machine
    2.remove bottom panel
3.Reach up along the inside of the front panel and locate the botttom of the door latch assembly
4.Located on the bottom of the door latch assembly is a tear dropped shaped tab
    5. Gently pull down on the tab about a 1/4 inch or until a click is heard.
    6. You may now open the door.

This code means the door lock mechanism has failed or the central control unit has failed. Replace the door lock mech. first. This should fix the problem. (before replacing anything make sure there is no obstruction around the switch or in the switch.) After the machine has been unplugged it may fix itself. if not replace door lock mech.
