Black Screen Hello, My Razar has a black screen, everything else works the keypad and I can dial and receive calls however cannot see what I am doing. Strange thing is when I turn the phone off and plug it in to charge the screen works as soon as I turn the phone on the screen goes black. I have tried dropping it, taking the battery out, turning it on and off and nothing. Please help! Many Thanks.

Also have a razr that will send and receive calls, but screen is black, as if it's off. No known trauma (dropping, water, etc.)

I followed your instructions and still not working. Where would I be able to buy a keypad flex for my Razr? Is it easy to replace myself? Thank you very much for your advice.

This is a common problem, it has to do with the keypad flex. either the connector on the top part of your phone is unpluged or your flex is damaged. Open the top of the phone where the screen is at (4 torx screws) genlty remove the cover. you will see two connectors, one that goes to the camera, the other is the one you want. genlty pry it off upwards, I would also clean it with some IPA (rubbing alcohol) and a brush, re-connect it pushing down firmly, you will fill it when it connects. if it doesnt work, you can purchase a new flex, if you need repair help, let me know I can try to help

You can get them at ebay. Yes you can replace it yourself, but be very careful when taken the pieces a part. there are guides online (google) that will show you how.

I had the same problem as everyone else here, however, I didnt believe it was a hardware problem because the initial,"Hello Moto" screen was full screen, leading me to believe problem was software... After a couple weeks of checking out the forums this seemed to confirm my suspicions... I needed to flash the phone to get it back, however, I am still a noob to phone software and every path I followed took me to the same place, nowhere...

Oddly enough, I used a tool provided free of charge from motorola at this address, http://direct.motorola.com/hellomot...my_software.asp
This is the free software updater for the V3 Razr, it will ask you to input the date you purchased the phone, choose a date from last month and it will allow you to download it free of charge. Once you install the software it may tell you, as it did me, there are no new updates available, it gives you the option to reinstall the current updates, which I did and 30 minutes later, I have my phone back. This is the slickest utility I have found to flash the phone and it got my "bricked" phone back up and running just great, as well as saving my phone book and other settings... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

I hope this will help those of you, who, like myself, never have gotten their phone wet. It may be that your bootloader is corrupted.

I have fixedthe proble mt to my phone..it has to do with the tp part of your phone being loose from the bottom part..the flex connector is coming loose..so i would suggest that you take it to either repair store and have it fixed.it should cost about $30..and then your phone should work perfectly..but if u want a temporary fix just take out hte battery sweeze it a couple times and put the battery back and turn it on..if it doesnt work then you definitely need to get it repaired...

hope this helps you all

Hi My cordless phone does not receive or make calls anymore. I have checked and everything seems to be working OK. There is a small icon that appeared on the screen ,like a battery,, and is all black

The battery indicator on the handset tends to be misleading. You may need to replace the battery, or if the phone is under a year old, try charging over night. Simply unplug from the phone jack, leaving base plugged into power.

Voice mail does not respond to commands from auto dialer screen

i found this on another forum... hopefully it's the answer we are looking for.

Re: Bug with Phone virtual number pad
I've found the answer to this problem!

Part of the problem is that the screen blacks out shortly after a call is connected.
When that happened I pressed the green phone button to get the keyboard back.

This keyboard image is a dummy. It visually responds to your touch but does not send the signal.

After you dial and your call is connected look at the bottom of the screen and you'll see that the normal menu tab changes and appears with the number 5 and letters jkl on it.

Pull it up with your finger. THIS is the keypad you must use when within a call to send number signals. I tested it and confirmed that it works.

If you have pulled up the dummy keyboard by pressing the green call button from within a call then simply hit the BACK button to see the real keypad tab.

If the screen has gone black and you need to light it up again then you can press BACK, HOME, or MENU to see the real keypad tab -- press anything BUT the green call button (which will give you the dummy keypad).

This dummy keypad is a true design flaw but knowing how to get to the functional one makes it an annoyance not a hindrance to using the phone.
