Hi Robert
By "no picture" I would assume you also mean no menu or anything. A dead screen.
There is not much that you can do with a modern LED TV as it is really a computer internally. Memory & Timing Controllers. See if you can find a reset button or small reset hole on the back. (See Your Manual).
Like a computer there may be certain keys that you can hold down on power up that cause it to reset it's internal CPU.
The Switch Mode Power Supply (Unit or PCB), which is often the cause of many problems. This usually stems from Heat & Leaky Electrolytic Capacitors in the Power Supply. So, if it's dead from lack of power to the various circuit modules from the switch mode power supply then this module can often be replaced with a spare part. You would need to check the internal switch mode PS output with a voltmeter if you want to go that far,
Hope this Helps

I have a 50" Samsung LED tv, that quit working after a recent power surge. Ironically the tv was plugged into a surge protector. Any way after the surge the tv will no longer power on normally, and I have...

To find out what is going on your going to need to measure the power supply voltages and PSON voltage, start with the 5 volt supply if that is normal then test the PSON voltage it should either be 3 to 5 volt and go to about 1 volt or be close to 1 volt and go to 3 to 5 when you push the power button, if you see that change then test the other voltages. if they are all ok the power board is working ok, Be very careful around the power supply, if your not familiar with testing high DC voltage then take it in and have it repaired as the hot side voltage gets close to 400 volts on some sets.

Before going further; try a hard reset first. If it does not help you, replace the main digital board. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; visit the site linked here.

No picture only sound on samsung tv

Test it this way. With the TV on and receiving a program, shine a flashlight on the screen If you can observe a faint picture then the T-Con board is working correctly but the back light ballast is not. Some models incorporate the ballasts on the power supply board. Others are on a separate board. Go here to get the correct parts to fix your TV TV Parts Universal TV Stands DLP Chips ShopJimmy

A tv picture that is freezing than immediately fades to black?

Check to make sure that off the air broadcast (not cable) is having same symptoms. A good chance main board is the problem. If it is less than 12 months old, contact Samsung for warranty service.

How do I fix horizontal thin lines across the screen?

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.
http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/
To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement.
