SOURCE: how can i get back reset computer to factory
*Some computers have a recovery software already installed, so obviously use that first and foremost.
*if that doesnt work try rebooting the computer and pressing Ctrl+F11
*if that fails then try F2 on the Main start up screen to start the BIOS, then there should be a recovery option
*Finally if all else fails use your windows OS CD (XP,Vista, or 7) and insert that, reboot the computer, and reinstall the operating system.
Tip: If you want to back up some of your important files before you clear your hard-drive, yet windows keep crashing and not letting you go to your desktop? go to another computer, go to http://www.ubuntu.com/ , burn the OS to a CD. then insert the CD into your broken laptop. this lets you run a temporary OS (or it can become permanent if you'd like by installing it to your hard drive) that lets you see your files and burn them to a CD, transfer them to an external hard-drive, or a memory key/ jump drive.
Warnings:
* Before attempting any of these backup solutions, SAVE all of the files you need off of your start-up drive (usually C://) and put them on to a disk, external hard drive, ect.
*The last solution, (using the OS cd) will not give you factory defaults : just a computer with the OS installed obviously. This means you must find the alternate Drivers, and programs, on the internet somewhere. another reason to only use the last solution because it is absolutely necessary.
