SOURCE: Brown spotting on washed clothes

chances are if you have eliminated anything thats got in by accident that the drum bearings are about to go, the drum bearings are protected by a water seal, this has started to leak and is now washing the grease out of the bearings back into the wash, you may also find a small amount of water on the floor, if you also remove the back and look behind the large pulley you may also see brown water marks running from the center of the outer drum

the next step will be a very noisy spin, like a rumbling noise

SOURCE: leaving dirty marks on clothing

What kind of washer is it? Most of the time spots are caused by a reaction between a detergent and a fabric softener. Try hand washing a spotted garment in warm soapy water. If the spot comes off, they were caused by fabric softener/detergent interaction.

A common problem with older GE/Hotpoint washers was that they would let transmission oil leak back into the tub. (Which is why I asked what kind of washer it was.) Sure hope this helps you find a resolution to your problem. Best wishes.

SOURCE: After washing clothes brown marks appear on the

Depending on how old your washer is and the condition of your water supply, it could be rust stains either from the washer tub starting to rust out. When a washer tub starts to rust out, it usually starts around the hundreds of small holes in the tub, as the coating wears away exposing the steel underneath, which rusts when it comes in contact with the wash water.

The other probable cause could be your water supply. If your water doesn't contain any rust or sediment, (fill a medium clear glass jar from the kitchen sink and let it sit undisturbed for a couple of days and see what settles to the bottom of the jar), it might be that your hot water heater tank is starting to fail and the tank is rusting out.

You can check the hot water tank by attaching a hose to the drain valve and filling a large bucket with some water. You might see some sediment and gunky water coming out of the tank, which could be the cause of the stains you're getting on the clothes.

It is recommended that homeowners with sediment in their water supply, or those on well water, have a whole house water filter to help keep sediment and minerals from getting into their appliances. Also, you should drain your hot water heater at least once a year to get rid of any excessive build-up in the tank. Be sure to turn off the hot water heater (electric or gas) when draning the tank and turn off the incoming cold water line too). Drain enough water out of it until the water runs clear.

Doing this will help extend the life of your water heater and make it run more efficiently too, as less sediment in the bottom of the tank means less effort is needed to heat the water, especially with a gas water heater.

Hope you found this info very helpful and best regards!

SOURCE: brown marks on clothes

Hello,

Does the drum sound noisy when it spins if it does then I would suspect the bearings are badly worn and the grease from the bearing is getting inside the drum.

Hope this helps.

I have the calypso dryer that leaves random brown streaks on our clothes. Any suggestions

Something like this happens when one of the drum supports wears down leaving a gap between the drum & bulkhead. Clothes can get caught-up in this gap & this will cause the brown marks you see on your clothes. Open the dryer door & look around the front & rear perimeter of the drum, if you can see a gap I recommend replacing the drum rollers. If you aren't comfortable making the repair yourself, you can contact a local appliance repair shop or the manufacturer of your Calypso dryer.

I have a 2006 Whirlpool Duet Electric Dryer that leaves brown marks on my cloths. I have cleaned the inside of the dryer per the manual's diretions, but it still leaves the marks. They almost look like...

Usually, if you are getting brown streaks or marks on clothing, one or both of the drum seals are going bad. Clothing will drag between the bulkhead and the drum, leaving brown marks. If you want to do the repair yourself, I can provide instructions, otherwise call for service.

Brown marks on my light coloured clothes

I just noticed My Frigidaire doing the same thing. Using a lightly soapy damp cloth, I cleaned the interior, paying particular attention to the small gap between the drum and the housing. I also took apart the lint pre-filter and screen and cleaned them. There was a filmy build up of the same colored substance. I suspect that dryer sheets are leaving a waxy residue that over time is sufficient enough to rub off on lighter colored, primarily synthetic, fabrics.

Brown streaks of clothing from dryer

Check your front and rear felt seals. How old is the dryer and what is the model number?

Burn mark

Most likely the brown stain will NOT come off, if the stain comes off the paint will come with it. Replacing the control panel is the option for making it look good again. Sorry to bring bad news.
