Hi! My Walkman NWZ-E438F will not fully charge through USB (via PC). It will charge for about 5 seconds then stop and tell me it's full. I can't seem to find the right advice anywhere on the Web. The cable is brand new, the player has not been used much at all. Please help!

Hi, I have doubts as to whether the battery is stuffed at all. I should have put forth more info. When I connect it to the computer, the battery indicator shows charging, but as soon as the Walkman is properly connected up and running with the PC, that's when the battery indicator says 'full'. It does this every time without fail. The battery seems to hold it's charge well, I have had it 2 weeks and it was 'half' full, and today it just went to quarter full. It does seem to charge a little when I connect. Whatever the case it's not under warranty and I am not forking out $49US for a battery.

I have a Sony Walkman, model NWZ-E438F and am having trouble charging it. I had no trouble uploading songs to it, the battery seems to hold charge well but when I connect it to a PC it tells me the battery is full straight away without fail. I know it's not full and am pretty sure the battery ain't kaput as this player is rather new. Any suggestions?

Hi,
Symptom shows battery is no more good to store charge so charge response and storage cycle becomes shorter.
NWZ-E438F sounds new model and would be under warranty. Call Sony service for warranty cover.
In case its not under warranty and you want to repair it by yourself then battery part number is as under..
X23198181 Battery N Assembly
Available in Part Store for $49
Thanks.

OK, your feedback shows battery is working fine and its just normal behavior of walkman when it got connected with PC, it starts battery charging itself until you upload/ download files in it.
Battery is fine and no need of replacement.

I lost my charger , where can I find another charger in Phoenix Arizona?

Hi,

It is not required to use a charger for charging the NWZ-E438F Walkman Player. You can connect the Player to the Computer using the USB cable for charging the Walkman Player. The charger is not supplied with the Player, however you can purchase the portable charger for the Player.
Recharging Time : USB-based charging Approx. 4 Hrs (full charge), Approx. 2 Hrs (approx. 80%)
The model # of the compatible charger is AC-U501AD and AC-NWUM50. Click here for the link to purchase AC-U501AD and AC-NWUM50
Please feel free to get back to us for further assistance.

The screen has gone blank!!

Charge the Walkman fully. To charge the battery of the Walkman fully keep it plugged in to the Computer for 4 hours.

Reset the Walkman by pressing the RESET button that is located at the bottom.

You can use any sharp pointed object to press the reset button.

If the issue persists then Walkman may require service.

My nwz-e438f walkman wont charge anymore can anyone help me?

Hi hellohello21,
attach the supplied cable directly to the computer's USB port (don't use any other extension cord simultaneously). If that doesn't work, check if you've some problems with your USB driver.

Sony Walkman (NWZ-E438F) won't turn on

It sounds like you followed the directions, so the device may be defective.

Your laptop's USB port has enough power to use other similar devices? If so, I'd take it back for an exchange.

By the way, it's a great device, so don't give up yet!

Nwz-e438f will not play, or connect to computer

Please try connecting the Walkman to a different USB port on the Computer and check if that helps.

Please make sure that there is no other USB devices connected to the Computer at the same time.

If there was no change after the player was reset, connect it to the computer and reset it again, leaving it connected.

Keep the Walkman connected to the Computer for 4 hours to fully charge the battery. Then, check whether the Walkman is working properly.

Ensure that the HOLD switch is not activated.

If the issue still persists after performing the steps provided above service of the Walkman is required.

Walkman will not charge

Whenever I plug my Walkman into my USB hub, which is connected to my desktop, it too says it's battery is full after just a few seconds. I plugged it directly into my laptop, and it took a charge as normal. Then I plugged it into a different USB port on my desktop, and it again took a charge as normal.
So, if you are using a USB hub, try plugging the Walkman directly into one of the computers USB ports, you may have better luck.
