SOURCE: Agitator does minimal agitation
Hi Omni,
The Agitator "dogs"/cams have given up the ghost and need to be replaced. Access to them is easy. Before starting the repair, have this part in hand.
Here's a tool list;
1.) small flat screwdriver (to remove the top part of the agitator)
2.) 3/8" ratchet
3.) 8" X 3/8" extension (for the ratchet)
4.) 7/16" socket
Take a gander at this pic... you'll be going after #10 'cause that's the problem.
All you gotta do is remove the top parts from the agitator to access it. See #2 in the diagram? That's the bolt holding the agitator to the transmission shaft. Remove that, then lift the whole agitator out of the tub. Now place the agitator on the floor and put both of your feet on the base. Now lift the agitator (#3) off the base (#4). Place one of your hands into the opening of the top of the agitator (to hold the cam (#9) in place) then turn the agitator over. The cam will slide right out.
Now you'll see the cam "dogs"... little white curved plastic doo-hickeys. All you gotta do now is install the new cam assy. and rebuild the agitator! Cool, huh? All it takes is about $15 bucks in parts and ~20 minutes.
Let me know if you have further questions. And don't forget to rate my solution as "FixYa"! Thanks, BB

first you remove the cap on top of the agitator then you remove the inner cap then you use a long extension with a 7/16 socket to remove the bolt the agitator will pull right up

Had same problem with my washer. Check to see if there are little plastic tags holding top/bottom of agitator. after replacing dogs just ensure that you realign with tags so they do not break off.

you have to remove the cover inside the upper agitator first, then you will see a plastic cover inside the top. it has 2 raised handle type tabs to pull on, then remove the cover and under it you will find a 7/16 bolt to remove and that will allow you to pull the tophalf of the agitator and change the agitate" dogs "
Pull the liquid softener dispenser off the top of the agitator. Pull the clear plastic cap out of the center of the agitator. Use a ratchet and socket set to remove the hex head bolt from the center of the agitator. Lift the top half of the agitator out of the washer. Pull the bottom half of the agitator straight up to remove it from the drive motor shaft, and remove the bottom half of the agitator from the Cabrio washer.
