I have had my Mp3 (model is SA32xx gogear philips) for 5-6 months, my problem is that 2 week ago i decided to add a song to my mp3 but when i disconnected it from my laptop, my mp3 went bright white the automatically turned off, i tried to reset it, but everytime i try to switch it on it it shows Philips the turns completely white and then turns off . i tried to format it, but when i press the format button my Mp3 states do not disconnect and the laptop says that it cannot complete the process and when i try to open file ( double clicking the icon in my computer) it says device is not connected. This is not the first time it has happened, last time it froze when i was listening, i waited for like 3 weeks til the computer instructed me to format it when i connected, i thought i will be the same this time but nothing is working. Can you help me switch it back on or do i have to get a new one?... its a SA32xx gogear philips

The "iTunes" files are indeed protected. You'll have to convert the music to another format first. You can burn them to CD and then rip them back to your PC or you can get conversion software, you could try here first:
U DO NOT REQUIRE ANY SOFTWARE TO ADD SONGS TO UR PHILLIPS MP3 PLAYER. JUST USE UR USB CABLE TO CONNECT WITH THE PC. THEN U SEE ONE DRIVE NAMED REMOVABLE DRIVE COMES IN MY COMPUTER. JUST DOUBLE CLICK ON IT AND ADD MP3 SONGS AND THE SONGS ARE ADDED TO MP3 PLAYER. ENJOY THE SONGS IN PHILIPS MP3 PLAYER. GREAT SOUND.....
It could be a hardware issue requiring replacement, but here are the things you can try to narrow it down: 1. Make sure the hold/lock is not engaged 2. Reset the player 3. Run an Updated using the latest version of the Philips Device Manager from Philips website 4. Run a Repair in Philips Device Manager
Triple Reset for Philips’ GoGear:
Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off.Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab.Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.
After repair is complete, upgrade the firmware for this player. Will erase all the songs, but you should be good to go again.
If these methods fail, call Philips to see if you are still in-warranty.
It's dead. The HDD models are basically obsolete - you may have purchased it 4 months ago, but it was manufactured 3 years ago. Here is the basic troubleshooting to be sure, but it won't work:

Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution. 1) Back up all files on the GoGear 2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips) 3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button 4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard). -Tha Mp3 Doctor
Software can be found by going to: www.usasupport.philips.com Enter your model number On the next page, click on your exact model number without the "B" on the end On the next page, click on "software and drivers"
